Hollins and Minerva Eugenia Tempy Jane "Nervie" Conner, on June 28, 1951 at Roanoke, Virginia.^5,1,2 Etter Sue "Etta" Payne and Emory John Paul Hollins Sr. were divorced on October 6, 1978 at Roanoke, Virginia.⁴ Etter Sue "Etta" Payne died on January 15, 2010 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 77.^1,6,3 She Etter Sue Payne Hollins (Etta), 77, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord Friday, January 15, 2010. Billy loved the Lord and served him for most of his life. He was a kind, very caring and a very godly man. He retired from Norfolk Southern Corporation where he worked for over 35 years as an electrical circuit engineer. He was a member of Life Tabernacle Church, helping to serve God in many ways. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell T. and Fanny M. Palmer; a son, Richard W. Palmer; granddaughter, Corrina N. Palmer; and a brother, Kenis L. Palmer. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Edna Journell Palmer; son, Gary Palmer; three brothers, Carl P. Palmer and wife Phyllis, Maynard L. Palmer and his friend Julie Daily, Russell T. Palmer Jr. and wife Rhonda; a sister, Della Mae Wheeling, and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends. W., Roanoke, Virginia.¹ She was born on February 12, 1928 at Boones Mill, Franklin Co., Virginia.^4,2,3 As of September 6, 1947,her married name was Palmer.² She married Kenis Lee Palmer, son of Russell Thomas Palmer and Ora Ollie "Ettie" King, on September 6, 1947 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.^1,2 Margaret Elizabeth James died on October 30, 2007 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 79.^1,4,5 She Margaret James Palmer, of Roanoke, Va., on Tuesday October 30, 2007 discovered the joys of the Lord as she entered into the presence of her Heavenly Father. She had been a faithful wife of 60 years to her husband, Kenis Palmer, she was a loving mother to her children, David Palmer and wife Becky, Brenda Maciel and husband, Tino, Bruce Palmer and wife, Susan, all of Roanoke. She leaves behind an inheritance found through her grandchildren, Philip Palmer and wife, Ashley, Crystal Ingle and husband, Jared, April Hall and husband, Homer, Jacob Palmer, Jessica Caldwell and fiance, Dan Augustyniak, Kenis Maciel, Andrew Palmer and wife, Candice, Victor Maciel, Bruce T. Palmer, Lindsey Palmer, Casey Palmer and Bailey Palmer. Her blessing will be continued by her greatgrandchildren, Cassidy Caldwell, Mateo Ingle, Rylan Palmer and Cruz Ingle; her sisters, Christine Stump of Rocky Mount, Beulah Childress and husband, Eddie, of Roanoke, Rebecca Altice and husband, Jack, of Wirtz and Doris Price of North Carolina; and by her brother, Shelborne (Billy) James and wife, Rosa, of Roanoke. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gratton and Etta James; and brothers, Russell James, William James and Hubert James. Margaret had worked for the Roanoke County School System and was retired. She had served faithfully in her church, Life Tabernacle, for some 50 years as youth leader and choir member. Her love was children, that showed in her many years as the primary Sunday school teacher, owner of the Palmer's Ginger Bread House Day Care and in helping to raise her 12 grandchildren. She was known to all as "Nannie." Funeral services will be held at the Life Tabernacle Church at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2007 with Pastor Tino Maciel officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
