     His Social Security Number was 315-26-9467.8 Billy James Hill Mr. Hill was a retired teacher and principal, having served as principal at Union Elementary, Warren Elementary and Salamonie schools in Huntington County from 1966 until his retirement in 1986. He began his teaching career in 1953 at Hartford Center High School in Adams County, where he taught business and English. In 1959, he was named principal of Jackson Township High School in Wells County. A 1946 graduate of LaFontaine High School, he earned his bachelor's degree in education in 1953 and his master's degree in 1959, both from Ball State University. He earned his superintendent's license in 1965 and his permanent supervisor's license in 1971. After retiring from education, he was co-owner of The Outfit, a clothing store in Warren, until 1990. He had also taught driver's education for many years. Mr. Hill was a long-time member of the Warren United Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, youth leader and moderator. He had been a member of the College Park Church since 1992. He was a member of the Huntington Metro Kiwanis Club, a former member and past president of the Warren Kiwanis Club and a lieutenant governor for Kiwanis International. He served many years on the local boards of Crime Stoppers, Council on Aging and Literacy Council. He was born Aug. 10, 1928, in Wabash County to Harry and Myrtle Snyder Hill. He married Carol M. Amstutz on June 3, 1956, at the First Missionary Church in Berne. His wife survives. Additional survivors include two daughters, Joan (Jeff) Sherlock, of Huntington, and Ronda (Brian) Walter, of Mt. Juliet, TN; a son, Greg (Eleanor) Hill, of Levering, MI; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.7 He was buried at Gardens of Memory, 11201 South Marion Road 35, Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana.4,5 He was born on August 10, 1928 at Liberty Township, Wabash Co., Indiana.3,4,8,6,7 He married Carol M. He was a York Rite Mason at Kokomo and a member of the Scottish Rite and Shrine at Indianapolis and also belonged to the Elks at Kokomo. Surviving with the widow, formerly Lavonne Wikel, are three brothers, Clint of Billings, Mont., Ray of Ft. Myers. Fla., and Hovey of Anderson, and two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Lauderback of Wabash and Mrs. Inez R. Tyner of Lagro. The body was sent to Kokomo. on April 30, 1959.9

     Marguerite Edwina Howard Marguerite Howard Titus, 98, Marion, went to join many loved ones in her eternal home at 3:36 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. She was born in Wabash, Indiana, on June 28, 1918, to Ora Wiley and Valeria (Grover) Howard. She married A. Newton Titus on July 1, 1937, and he preceded her in death on January 3, 1998. Maggie retired from Delta Electric in Marion after over 40 years. She had been a "snowbird", wintering at her home in Lake Placid, Florida, for almost 40 years. She was known for her excellence in cooking and sewing, as well as her love of beauty and flowers and proficiency in cards. Her sharp wit, zest for life, healthy lifestyle, positive outlook, and love for family and friends made her a joy to be around. Maggie attended Grace Community Church in Marion and Community Church of God while wintering in Lake Placid. She is survived by two sisters and one brother, Letty Mann, Donna (Merideth) Pence, and Wylie Howard; her loving son, David Titus; and grandchildren who will miss her dearly, Jerry (Jan) Titus, Jr., Kokomo, Dana (Greg) Melton, Swayzee, Diana (Darryl) Clark, Marion, A.D. Titus, Cicero, Amy (Matt) Kelley, Cicero, and Nathan (Andrea) Titus, Marion. Also left to appreciate her beautiful life are 20 great-grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and good friends. Four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death, Eugene Howard, Dalton Howard, Paul Howard, Joe Howard, Frances Weimer, and Phyllis Bishir; her husband of over 60 years, Newton Titus; and son, Jerry Titus, Sr. (in 1964). Services will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Tom Mansbarger officiating. Wylie was a wire scheduler for 40 years at Essex-United Technologies in Marion. He was a real handyman and was very meticulous with his cars. Wylie enjoyed painting, mowing, and fishing, and he always looked forward to family gatherings with his brothers, sisters, and grandchildren. Wylie was also an avid Colts and Pacers fan and an avid walker. He is survived by his children, Carol (Ron) McClure, Lake Wales, Florida, and Melinda (Lamar Abercrombie) Stone, Gainesville, Georgia; sisters, Letty Mann, Marion, and Donna (Meredith) Pence, Plainfield; daughter-in-law, Barbara Morgan, Fairmount; grandchildren, Greg McClure, Steve McClure, Heidi Davidson, Tim McClure, Aaron Stone, Ben Stone, Jacob Stone, David Stone, Brad Howard, April Dewey, and Amber Howard; and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Wylie was preceded in death by his son, Gary J. He was born in Orlando, Fla. on Oct. 18, 1923 to the late Wylie and Valeria (Grover) Howard. As an infant his family returned to the Wabash and Grant County areas. He attended the Chippewa School. He worked for area farmers as a youth, then at the RCA; but did not care for factory work and took a job his brother offered him at Howard Auto Sales and became one of the best Service Managers in Marion, earned his Master Mechanic’s title, received many awards and retired after 36 years. Joe enjoyed his family and friends, liked telling or hearing a good joke, fishing, classic country music and watching professional wrestling on television. He was a very good handyman at remodeling and maintaining his home. He and his first wife, Norma (Case) Morrow, raised their three children to adulthood. He married Nancy Kay Botkin and helped her raise her two children and was a very good step-father to them for 42 years. Joe is survived by his wife, Nancy K. Howard; two sons, Daniel J. (Donna) Howard, Noblesville; Gary W. (Lori Eifred) Good, Churubusco; three daughters, Karen S. Saunders, Nancy E. Wiley and Theena K. (Ralph) Spencer, Marion; mother-in-law, Helen L. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Weimer, Phyllis Bishir; three brothers, Dalton, Gene and Paul Howard; four brothers-in-law, Newton Titus, Dr. J.D. Mann, Delbert Bishir and George O. Willis; three sisters-in-law, Hazel, Mary and Willie Howard; father-in-law and good friend, Warren I. Botkin. Services are at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2009 in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Avenue, Marion with the Rev. Howard Clayton officiating. Burial is in the Estates of Serenity. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009 in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to MGH Medical Oncology Program at PCC, 831 N. Theatre Dr., Marion, IN 46952 or Grace Community Church, 1810 E.
