Steven Andrew Tolson, 29, died of massive head trauma in the accident at 11:35 p.m. about five miles north of Graniteville, Aiken County Coroner Sue Townsend said. The westbound Tolson apparently entered the eastbound lane of I-20 from an exit ramp at U.S. 25, Mrs. Townsend said. Cars and trucks dodged Tolson, she said, and the state Highway Patrol sent three cars to try to intercept him when the collision occurred. The force of the impact threw Tolson's Toyota down a 30-foot embankment, and he and the car's seat were ejected, the coroner said. The truck driver, Johnny Monk, 35, of Simsboro, La., was treated for injuries and released from HCA Aiken Regional Medical Centers. The collision knocked off the truck's diesel tank, spilling fuel onto the interstate, patrol officials said. The truck's trailer, loaded with live chickens belonging to Farm Fresh Poultry Inc. of Alexander City, Ala., was not damaged, the coroner said. The wreck remained under investigation late Friday. on May 16, 1987.⁴

She was born on May 23, 1959 in Elwood to Robert and Karen (Rice) Embry and has lived in Alexandria most of her lifetime. She was a graduate of Alexandria Monroe High School Class of 1977. Rhonda was a manager at Rickers in Lapel for 2 years. Survivors: Husband, Coy Brashears, Alexandria; Mother, Karen Embry, Alexandria; Sister, Renna (Harold) Kaufman, Anderson; Brother, Bo (Jane Ann) Embry, Cicero; Several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, sister, Michele "Missy" Chesnut, nephew, Jarrett Kaufman.
