     George Irving Bane Jr. George I. Bane, 74, passed away peacefully at home on March 30, 2023. Born in South Boston, VA, his family moved to the peninsula where he became a long-time resident of Newport News, VA. George graduated from Warwick High School in 1967 and attended a vocational-technical school and went on to have a long career as a plumber and pipefitter. He retired from James River Mechanical, and then focused on his new role of full-time Paw-Paw, a job he described as, “having crappy pay, but the greatest rewards.” George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a most loyal friend to many. In his spare time, he enjoyed painting, drawing, fishing, spending time with family and friends, and being the number one fan in the stands of his grandchildren’s sports activities. George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alice Bane; brother, Jerry W. Bane; and best friend, Clell “Rusty” Hart. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara C. Bane; son, George Matthew Bane (Heidi); daughter, Ashley Westphal Swain (Robert); grandchildren, Tyler M. Bane (Chandlyr Blake), Rilee L. Bane, McKenna L. Swain, and Emerson A. Swain; great-grandchildren, Bodhi M. and Blakely M. Bane; sister, Carolyn Mitchell; aunt, Myrtle Seay; and brother-in-law Jack Carper, II.3 He was born on March 31, 1948 at South Boston, Halifax Co., Virginia.1,2,3 He married Nancy Marie Sowers, daughter of Houston Ray "Hoot" Sowers Sr. and Edna Marie Epperly, on July 3, 1969 at Newport News, Virginia.1 George Irving Bane Jr. and Nancy Marie Sowers were divorced on November 17, 1971 at Newport News, Virginia.2 George Irving Bane Jr. died on March 30, 2023 at Newport News, Virginia, at age 74.3

Carol was born a coal miners daughter August 22, 1938 in House #43 in the bottoms at Boomer, WVA to Joseph Clarence Dorsey and Annie May Livesay. She was the 5th daughter, born with a twin---the only boy in this coal mining/farming family. She attended Boomer Elementary for 1st and 2nd grade. Then the family moved to Lockwood, WVA, where she had the pleasure of attending 2 different one room schoolhouses. The first was Lyon Creek Elementary for 3rd grade, then Dorsey Elementary for 4th-8th. Then on she went to Nicholas County High School, where she graduated in 1955. Carol married in 1956 and moved to Texas, then to New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and then back to Texas, where she lived for 46 years. She worked for many years at Sears Catalog store, then Foleys Department Store until she retired in the year 2000. She enjoyed singing in her church choir, participating in senior outings and game days, and time with her family and friends. She is survived by sons Timothy Forloine of Baltimore, MD, Steve Forloine of Lockwood, WVA and daughter Shari Kuiken of Frisco, Texas as well as 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, her sister Beulah Summers of Peters Creek, WVA and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Rose, Ruby and Junie, brother Carl and daughter Donna Shaddox.
