Clyde Brummett Clyde Brummett, 72, of Spotsylvania County, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 at his home. Mr. Brummett was a retired welder. He was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed metal detecting. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Oakes Brummett; his three daughters, Patricia Jones, Laura Menzie (Larry), and Angie Tomblin; his ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his siblings, Claude Brummett (Eva), Agnes Collins, Ralph Brummett, Mike Brummett (Debbie), Sue Pauley (Mike), and Nancy DeLavello (Tom); and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Brummett was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Opal Brummett and a brother, Dewey Brummett. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.3 He was buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Four Mile Fork, Spotsylvania Co., Virginia.4 He was born on April 24, 1943 at Washington, D.C..2 He married Alice Faye Wellborn, daughter of Goodwin Gheesling Wellborn and Ruth Mariner/Marina Pendleton, on September 12, 1963 at Prince William Co., Virginia.1 Clyde Brummett and Alice Faye Wellborn were divorced on May 2, 1985 at Prince William Co., Virginia.2 Clyde Brummett died on February 3, 2017 at Spotsylvania Co., Virginia, at age 73.3

William Eugene "Gene" Smallwood William Eugene "Gene" Smallwood, 42, of Gastonia, formerly of Asheboro, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in Gastonia. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Gene was born June 11, 1974 in Washington D.C. He was a graduate of Southwestern Randolph High School and earned his B.S. at High Point University. Gene worked as a paralegal at Hedrick Gardner Kincheloe & Garofalo, LLP, in Charlotte. He was a loving, hardworking and caring person. An avid sports fan, Gene especially enjoyed basketball and was a diehard Duke fan. He loved his family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Cousins Smallwood; grandparents, Kent Maynard and Julia Ann Dellinger Smallwood, Sidney R and Dorothy nee Thomas Wright; and his uncle, Malcolm "Pee Wee" Wright. Survivors include his father, Bruce Smallwood of Martinsville, VA; sister, Michelle L. Schadt and husband, Chris of Asheboro; brothers, Michael E. Smallwood of Hartfield, VA, Gregory L.
