She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Edward and Catherine Cupp, and her brothers, Donald Cupp and Michael Cupp. Left to cherish her memory are her three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Carolyn Fleet, Samuel and Julie Fleet, Brian and Tracie Fleet; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Ronald Cupp, David and Carlene Cupp, Roger Cupp; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Jack Saunders, Betty Bentley, Diane and Chris Poff, Cathy Elliott; as well as an extended family of nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly. She will be sadly missed by her friends at Walton Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family wishes to thank all those at Carilion Hospice for taking care of her during her last days, especially Nicole and Karen. Junior was a farmer and had been retired from RAAP in Radford. He was preceded in death by his mother, Addie E. Hutchison; and his wife, Evelyn Long Duncan. Junior's joy and knowledge of the outdoors was passed on to his sons, as well as his many friends, and everyone was as welcome at the breakfast table as they were spending the day in the field. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons and daughters-in-law, Davey Terry and Judith Duncan, of Colonial Heights, and Denny and Jeanette Duncan, of Pearisburg; and four grandchildren, Shaun, Richard, Evelyn and Jonathan W. Duncan. Burial will follow in the Level Green Church Cemetery. on August 14, 2009.1

She was born on April 19, 1923, in Pembroke, VA, the oldest daughter of the late Marshall Black & Sara Ella Meredith Brumfield. Mama graduated from Pembroke High School. On Wednesday, October 29, 1952, she married Richard Henry Altizer and moved to Salem. With this marriage, not just two lives became one, but two families. She was employed with Gibb Kanode's, Kroger, and Tarpley's in Salem before retiring in 1986. Our mother was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Salem. She also enjoyed being a homemaker, shopping, talking, and spending time with her family and friends. One of her other ministries was calling her Sunday School friends daily and remembering them with cards and visits. She was predeceased by her husband of 23 years, Richard; brothers, James, Charles, and Mancel Brumfield; and sister, Betty Jean Brumfield. Her surviving family includes her daughters, Debra A. Taylor & husband, David, Wanda M. Journell & husband, Dennis, and Joyce Brewer & husband, Jack Jr., all of Salem, and Carolyn A. Aldhizer & husband, H.T. III, of Vero Beach, FL; sister, Lucille B. Williams & husband, Robert, of Pembroke; sisters-in-law, Marie Brumfield, Reva A. Brown, Hazel Altizer, and Ethel Altizer; grandchildren, Drew Taylor, Wynsor T. and David B. Smith, Wendy B. and John Baumgartner, Kimberly B. Claar, Kevin and Cathy Aldhizer, and Karen and Frank Schlitt; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Cole, Clay, Caleb, Chloe, Kendall, and Casey; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to offer special thanks to Mama's family at Snyder Nursing Home for their wonderful care and unending love. Services were to be conducted by the Rev. Charles Williams with interment in the River View Cemetery in Goshen. Survivors include two sons, James of Staunton and Robert Hutchison of Shinnston, W. Va; two daughters, Mrs. Hassaleen Hall and Mrs Ella Hutchison, both of Staunton; two sisters, Mrs. Virgie Craft and Mrs. Recie Wright, both of Covington; a brother, Earl Craft of Goshen and four grandchildren. The active pallbearers were L. D. Edwards, Thomas Alphin, W. B. Mays, Pete Greaver, H. D. Carter Sr. and John Blaker. on September 5, 1967.3
