Charles Victor Webster Sr. Charles Victor Webster, Sr., 86, of Salem, passed away peacefully January 10, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends. Having suffered for years with C.O.P.D., he courageously fought his final battle with this disease. He was predeceased by his wife, MaryLou Fisher Burton Webster and is survived by his children: Charles V. Webster, Jr., Paula W. Amrhein (Russ), and Michael David Webster (Faye). Grandchildren: Charles V. Webster III, John Webster, Kayla Webster, Jacquelyn A. Sells, Chadwick S. Amrhein, 6 great grandchildren and many dear loyal friends from his Salem Moose Lodge and the Salem Brookdale Senior Living facility. Charles was a very proud and strong-willed person. He was extremely proud of “his” Salem, Virginia and thought the sun rose and set in his hometown. Charles was born January 25, 1931 and loved his Andrew Lewis High School and Roanoke College. During the Korean conflict, he served in the United States Army as a Cryptographer. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and then retired once again in 2017 from his second job at Amrhein’s Jewelers. Charles was honored to be a member of the Taylor Lodge 23 in Salem. His family would like to thank his wonderful medical team for all the years they dedicated to making Charles as comfortable as possible. Charles could always be heard repeating his favorite saying, “Salem born, Salem bred and when I die I’ll be Salem dead”. His love of all things Salem was unwavering.3 He was born on January 23, 1931 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.2,3,4 He married Audrey Jean Powell, daughter of Joseph Divers "Joe" Powell and Madeline Jewel Brown, on September 1, 1951 at York, York Co., South Carolina.1,2 Charles Victor Webster Sr. and Audrey Jean Powell were divorced on May 3, 1979 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.2 Charles Victor Webster Sr. died on January 10, 2018 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 86.3
