     Patricia Ann Thomas Pat Beckner, October 25, 1946 — May 16, 2023. Patricia “Pat” Beckner, 76, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023. She lived in Roanoke but was a long-time resident of Boones Mill. She was proceeded in death by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her parents Ruth and Curtis Thomas; her son Tex Hodges; brother Carlton Thomas; and sister May Thomas. She is survived by her children, Barbara (Colin) Gee, Paul (Christina) Beckner, Jay (Sherri) Beckner; niece April Tayloe; and nephew Carl Thomas; grandchildren, Josh (Jennifer), Andrew, Kristen, Cheyanne (Craig), Katie (Matthew), Kayla (Sutton), Jordan, and Kaleb (Brooke); seventeen great-grandchildren; and her partner, Ginger Quinn. Pat was a member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church, proudly graduated from Grace Bible Institute. She also did Clown Ministry at the Rescue Mission Shelter. Pat along with Ginger did missionary work in Guatemala and also in Kenya with Jay, Sherry and Kayla. She also went to Welch, West Virginia with a Roanoke Valley United Methodist group. Pat loved life, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply. Her stepmother, Martha, said it best, “she loved people inside and out.” She had a contagious smile, a huge heart, loved to travel and read books with a good cup of coffee. She was also a great listener with a nurturing soul. She grew to love cooking. Pat liked to visit wineries, especially with friends and enjoyed striking up a conversation with other winos too. Pat loved teaching swimming lessons at Lancelot Sports Complex for over 25 years and water aerobics. She managed Stop In Food Stores in Roanoke, Salem, Wirtz and Boones Mill, Virginia. She also taught at Hollywood School of Beauty and met many longtime friends and she also worked at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.³ She was born on October 25, 1946 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,5,3 As of April 6, 1961,her married name was Hodges.² She married Douglas Forrest Hodges on April 6, 1961 at York, York Co., South Carolina.² Patricia Ann Thomas and Douglas Forrest Hodges were divorced on January 30, 1964 at Roanoke, Virginia.² As of January 17, 1965,her married name was Beckner.¹ Patricia Ann Thomas married Paul Clayton Beckner on January 17, 1965 at Roanoke, Virginia.¹ Patricia Ann Thomas died on May 16, 2023 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 76.³

     Douglas Forrest Hodges was born on November 24, 1943 at Roanoke, Virginia.² He married Patricia Ann Thomas, daughter of Curtis Green Thomas and Opal Ruth Thomas, on April 6, 1961 at York, York Co., South Carolina.¹ Douglas Forrest Hodges and Patricia Ann Thomas were divorced on January 30, 1964 at Roanoke, Virginia.¹ Douglas Forrest Hodges died on June 30, 2013 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 69.³

Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca B. Gore of Vinton, and Barbara Gee and husband Colin of Roanoke; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul C. and Maribeth Beckner of Buchanan, and Rev. James W. and Sherri Beckner of Roanoke; eight grandchildren, Josh, Andrew, Todd, Kristen, Kaitlin, Kaleb, Jordan and Kayla; one great-grandchild, Wesley Palmer; one brother, John W. Beckner of Roanoke; four sisters, Aileen B. Thompson of Roanoke, Frances B. Obenchain of Vinton, Marie B. Casey of Roanoke, and Laurna B. Mundy of Roanoke; a special friend, Loveline Alls of Salem. Burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. on August 19, 2003.⁵

     Jennifer Lee Hinkley was buried at Mount Comfort Cemetery, 6600 S. Kings Highway, Fairfax Co., Virginia.² She was born on August 12, 1971 at Arlington Co., Virginia.^1,2 She died on November 2, 1972 at age 1.²

Clarence is preceded in death by one sister, Hazel May Gill and survived by one sister, Francis W. Argabright of Roanoke. Jacqueline is survived by two sisters, Judith A. Parkman of New York and Carol Kettel of Georgia; and three brothers, Edward H. Parkman of Florida, David F. and Robert T. Parkman, both of New York. Clarence had served in the U.S. Air Force and enjoyed traveling, he visited every state in the union except Hawaii. Jacqueline was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her children and the elderly. She attended Manassas Church of Christ. on April 30, 2003.⁸

She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Donell Lee Agabright; two daughters, Vicki Helms and Pam Pack; a stepdaughter, Janet Mills and her husband Cotton; two stepsons, Donald Lee Argabright and Robert Lynn Argabright; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2005 from East Hill Cemetery, Salem with Jeff Durham and Edward Argabright officiating. on December 4, 2005.⁵

Argabright; son, Richard Wayne Argabright; grandson, Jonathan Quintrell; parents, Joel and Lessie Argabright; and brothers, Clifton Eugene Argabright and Bobby Argabright. Survivors include his daughter, Janet M. Mills and husband, Carlton, of Rocky Mount; sons, Donald Lee Argabright, of Richmond, and Robert Lynn Argabright, of Stewartsville; four grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; brothers, Edward Argabright and wife, Jean, and David Argabright and wife, Cheryl, all of Roanoke; and sister, Peggy Moore, of Rural Retreat.
