Quin, of Houston Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., with interment in Oak Hill cemetery. Mr. White was born in Albermarle county, Virginia, July 1, 1860, and came to Lampasas at the age of 21. He engaged in the mercantile business for several years and was with the old Texas Trading company, and later with First National bank. At organization of Peoples National he went with it and served as president 20 years. Mr. White accumulated a large ranch interest in this county, was always a breeder of good Hereford cattle, a man whose influence has reached thousands. He was conservative, yet liberal, in his dealings as a banker. on January 20, 1932.¹

Mrs. Skinner was born June 30, 1883 in Caldwell, married Wickliffe Skinner there Jan. 7, 1883 (typo - actually Jan 7, 1903) and was member of the San Angelo's First Baptist Church. He died in April, 1966, in San Angelo. While in Abilene, she was a member of the Abilene Woman's Club, the Quilt Club of Abilene, the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Hendrick Memorial Hospital of which her late husband was trustee. Prior to moving to San Angelo two years ago, Mrs. Skinner was a long-time Abilene resident. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Neely and Mrs. Harry Edmond, both of San Angelo; a son, Wickliffe Skinner Jr. of Lafayette, La; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. on May 3, 1967.⁵

Neely, 60, a former resident of Winters, died about 8 p.m. Thursday in a Jacksboro hospital after suffering a stroke earlier in the afternoon. Mr. Neely, who had been manager of Whites Auto Store in Jacksboro since 1955, was born northwest of Winters in 1904. He married Ruth Skinner in Jan. of 1930 in Odessa. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Jerry, a student at McMurry College; his step-mother, Mrs. Ethel of Neely of Winters; five brothers, Gattis Neely of Winters, Sidney of San Benito, Carroll of Iowa, Benton of Garland, Arburn of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Prince and Mrs. Katherine Mills. on August 21, 1964.³

     His Social Security Number was 466-64-9467.⁷ Dr. Jerry Richard Neely Wimberley - Rescue workers struggling through brushy hill country of Central Texas, reached the wreckage Tuesday of a light plane and removed the bodies of two Southwest Conference basketball referees. Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration were trying to determine the cause of the crash. The plane which carried Dr. Jerry Neely of San Marcos and Bill Horlen of San Antonio, had been missing since it took off last Friday night from the lower Rio Grande Valley, where the two men had refereed a basketball game in Edinburgh. Services for Neely, 34, who attended McMurray College and had a master's degree from Abilene Christian University, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in San Marcos' First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene. No flight plan was filed, but Neely, the pilot, reportedly planned to fly to San Marcos from where Horlen would drive to Waco to referee a Saturday night Southwest Conference game. When the men failed to arrive in San Marcos early Saturday, a search was begun by Civil Air Patrol. Late Monday afternoon a CAP plane spotted the wreckage of the single engine Cessna 177 from the air and a helicopter from Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio confirmed the two men were dead inside. Ground teams however were unable to reach the crash site until Tuesday morning. They had to plod through cactus studded craggy terrain to reach the scene, about 15 miles Northwest of San Marcos. "The plane did not burn. It looks like it just nose down into a hill," said Lt. Tom Todd of the Civil Air Patrol. Rescuers reached a plane about 8:30 a.m. The bodies were removed at mid morning and taken to a funeral home in San Marcos. Horlen and Neely were among 42 referees approved to officiate Southwest Conference basketball games. Neely, a Jacksboro native, was an Associate Professor of Education at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. The Rev. Jerry Smith, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of San Marcos, will officiate at Wednesday's services. A memorial service for the Neelys and friends of the family will be Thursday, noon at Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Abilene. Skinner was a native of Dublin, Texas, son of the late Wickliffe Skinner Sr. and the former Aurelia Murray. He had been a resident of Espanola, N.M. for the past two years. He had been a resident of Lafayette from 1955 to 1969. He retired as a chemical engineer for SOHIO after 25 years of employment. He obtained his Master Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Jana Elizabeth Skinner of Alexandria and Ms. Kathryr Ann Skinner of Noble, Okla; one son, Wickliffe Skinner III of Kenner; two sisters, Mrs. Aurelia Edmond of San Angelo, Texas and Mrs. Ruth Neely of San Marcos, Texas and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane B. Skinner, July 23, 1977 and a son, John Murray Skinner, Dec. 1, 1966. on March 8, 1988.⁶

Mrs. Skinner was a native of El Paso, Tex., and had been a resident of Oklahoma City since 1969. She was a former resident of Lafayette for 13 years where she was a teacher at Lafayelle High School. She is survived by her husband, Wickliffe Skinner Jr., of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Miss Kathryn Skinner and Mrs. Jan Meek, both of Oklahoma City; one son, Wickliffe Skinner III of New Orleans, her father, A. D. Brownfield Sr. of Deming, N.M., one sister, Mrs. Martha D. Packett of Albuquerque, N.M., one brother, A. D. Brownfield Jr. of Deming, N.M. on July 25, 1977.³

He served in the 12th Armored Divison of the U.S. Army during World War II in the Inspector General’s office. He had been a court reporter for 26 years for the 51st District Court before he retired. Survivors include his wife, Aurelia Edmond of San Angelo; a step-daughter, Ann Bailey of San Angelo; two brothers, Thomas Edmond of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Harper Edmond of Newhall, Calif; and two step-grandchildren. on April 15, 1991.³
