She was born and raised in Hoquiam, Washington graduating from Hoquiam High School in 1936. Her grandparents and great grandparents were some of the earliest settlers on Grays Harbor. Though her childhood and teen years were often difficult, she remained quietly determined and optimistic about life. Eloise was married to William E. Their home church was Immanuel Baptist Church in Hoquiam, only changing upon Eloise's move to Bend, Oregon in the mid 1990's and from there to Poulsbo, Washington in more recent years. Homecooking is where she excelled, and her favorite past times were watching the cooking channels, Mariner’s Baseball games, her pet poodle "GG", and tending her tomatoes and flower beds.
