     Thurl Edison Downing was buried at Mahomet Cemetery, Mahomet, Burnet Co., Texas.^2,3 He Thurl Edison Downing, 93, of Baytown, TX, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013. Born in Kiowa County, Oklahoma, on September 28, 1919, Thurl was the youngest of 15 children of Ida Lillian Lindsey and Levi Patterson Downing.
He moved to Baytown, Texas, in 1935, and married his sweetheart, Bonnie Laverne Williams, on October 10, 1941. They were married for 67 years until Bonnie's death in 2009. Thurl worked for Ashland Oil and Rubber Plant in Baytown from 1944 to 1979, where he maintained a perfect attendance record for all 35 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers and 7 sisters, two daughters - Carletta Downing Self, and Janice Downing Tate, and son in law, Roger N Jordan. He is survived by his children, Linda Sue Downing Jordan, of Lufkin; Ronald Wayne Downing, Sr and daughter in law, Karen Nelson Downing, of Cypress; Terry Downing of Lufkin; and Jill Downing Vinson, and son in law Jesse Vinson, Jr, of Cypress. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren: Gina Clem Jay, Dale Clem, Sandra Clem Cortez, Lisa Clem Finch, Karena Evensen Mutz, Ginger Jordan Opanowitz, Sharon Jordan Richards, Christopher Jordan, Ronald Downing, Jr, Susan Downing Tijerina, Jonathan Tate, Cordelia Tate, Mark Alan Vinson, and Marissa Ann Vinson. Also, 21 great grandchildren and 7 great- great grandchildren. Honoring the family as pall bearers are his grandchildren: Dale Clem, Ron Downing Jr, Christopher Jordan, William Rowe, Mark Vinson, and Dillon Clem. She married Troy Willie Williams, son of Arthur Alvin Williams and Bessie Ola Swinney. Marguerite Isabell Crooks was born on October 10, 1917.¹ She died on December 30, 1991 at age 74.¹

     Troy Wayland "Bill" Williams was buried at San Jacinto Memorial Park, 14659 East Freeway, Houston, Harris Co., Texas.¹ He was born on December 5, 1938.¹ He died on December 5, 1953 at age 15.¹

     Janice Kay Downing Janice Kay Tate, age 39, of Pleasanton passed away on Monday, May 25, 2009, in Alice, Texas. She is survived by her parents, Thurl and Bonnie Downing of Baytown; husband, Mike Tate of Pleasanton; daughters, Cordelia Tate of Pleasanton, Amber Tate of Houston and sons, and Jonathan Tate of Pleasanton, William Michael Tate, Jr. of Houston. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Maykayla Tate, Sisters, Carletta Self, Linda Jordan, Jill Vinson, Brothers, Ron Downing and Terry Downing. Jordan, 67, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Bill Atchison officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011 in the Mahomet Cemetery in Burnet County. Mr. Jordan was born November 10, 1943 in Everett, Washington to the late Jessie Ioma (Franks) and Paul Lester Jordan. Married Linda Sue Downing - September 17, 1966. He died Sunday, February 13, 2011 in a Lufkin hospital. Mr. Jordan had resided in Lufkin for the past 11 years, and previously lived in Baytown for 34 years. He was a retired First Line Supervisor for Exxon Refinery following 33 years of service. Mr. Jordan loved to rebuild cars, and he had just completed building his dream cars, a 1932 Deuce Ford Roadster, a 1928 Chevy farm truck, and a 1939 Pontiac 2-door sedan. He was a United States Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Linda Downing Jordan of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Ginger Sue and Brian Opanowitz of Willis, Texas; Sharon Elizabeth and Tony Richards of Huntington, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Paul and Thasha Barefoot Jordan of Humble, Texas; grandchildren, Aaron Michael DeNamur (son of Ginger) of Herriman, Utah; Katelyn Elise Opanowitz of Allen, Texas; Dalton Lee Richards and Ryleigh Elizabeth Richards, both of Huntington,Texas; Jaycee Lynn Jordan and Brayden Paul Jordan, both of Humble, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmie and B.J. Jordan of Arkansas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jordan was also preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Jean Jordan and Betty A Jordan Crider, brother, David Lee Jordan; mother-in-law, Bonnie Williams Downing; and sister-in-law, Janice Kay Downing Tate.
