Tabor, 87, of 424 Albemarle St., Bluefield, WV, died Wednesday March 28, 2007 at a Bluefield hospital. Born August 1, 1919 in Bluefield, WV he was a son of the late James A. Tabor, Sr. and Lurlie Pinson Tabor. Mr. Tabor was retired from the WV State Road Commission. He was a very active member of the Bland Street United Methodist Church. In addition Don was a member of the Bluefield Cemetery Commission, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3856, a life member of the Riley-Vest Post #9 American Legion, 50 year member of the Bluefield-Mercer Lodge #85 AF&AM, Bluefield Moose #1079, and the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp #1694 Flat Top Copperheads. Mr. Tabor was a veteran of WW II having served in the U.S. Army as Tech. Sergeant in the 204th Ordinance Unit in the Pacific Theater. In addition to his parents; Mr. Tabor was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Tabor; and his brother, James A. Tabor, Jr. Survivors include his children; a son, Donald H. Tabor, Jr. of Charleston, WV and a daughter Julie A. Shields and husband Scott of Fairmont, WV. Funeral services for Mr. Tabor will be conducted from the Bland Street United Methodist Church Monday April 2, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. David Hall, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow from the Monte Vista Park Cemetery located in Green Valley. Military Graveside Rites will be preformed by American Legion Post #14 Pocahontas, VA and V.F.W. Post 9696 of Bluefield, VA, and Masonic Graveside rites will be preformed by Bluefield-Mercer Lodge #85 AF & AM. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Masons of the Bluefield-Mercer Lodge# 85 AF & AM. on April 1, 2007.4

     Fayette Mae Carter Fayetta Mae Carter Hall, daughter of the late Verne Carter and Blanche Harris Carter, was born May 24, 1922 in Glidden, Iowa. She departed this life November 16, 2017 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 95 years, 5 months and 23 days. She was united in marriage to Ernest Hall on December 5, 1959. Fayetta spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, homemaker and friend. After graduating high school, she earned a Teaching Certificate, although she chose not to teach school. Most of her working years were spent as the librarian at Calico Rock Library. She retired after 36 years of employment. She was a gifted pianist, playing in church, at funerals, weddings and at Guiding Star Chapter of the Eastern Star in Calico Rock. Fayetta was a 60 year member of The Order of the Eastern Star. In 2014, she was elected Grand Organist for the Arkansas Grand Chapter. For many years, she taught piano in her home and after work at Norfork School. Fayetta enjoyed traveling to places such as, Germany, New York, California and Arizona. She was of the Presbyterian faith and a long time member of Calico Rock Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She devoted her life to her church and helping others. She is survived by one daughter: Melody Killebrew of Calico Rock; two sons and two daughters-in-law: Patrick and Virginia Ballard of Mountain Home and Mike and Kathy Ballard of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughter-in-law: Jennie Ballard of Calico Rock; one brother: Jack Carter of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Kim Rush Sanders (Eric)of Pineville, Justin Rush (Missy) of Salem, Sharon Ballard of Kansas City, Missouri, Jonathan Ballard (Susan) of Mountain Home, Matthew Ballard (Brooke) of Mountain Home, Jake Ballard (Terenessa) of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Nick Ballard of Sierra Vista, Arizona; three step grandchildren: Larry Long of Calico Rock, Kathy Houston of Conway and Pam Holms of Sherwood; twelve great grandchildren: Bailey Whiteaker (Willie), Carson Gibson (Jonathan), Remi Rush, Logan Ballard, Isaac Ballard, Anabel Ballard, Landra Ballard, Audrey Ballard, Quentin Ballard, Linaura Ballard, Tauriel Ballard and Trystan Lickteig; two great great grandchildren: Kenley Whiteaker and Lewcas Gibson; long time friends: Sue Vinson and Mondalyn McCormack both of Calico Rock and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother: Dale Carter; one sister: Dorothy Mingus; her son: Charles (Chuck) Ballard; one grandson: Stephen Ballard; one great granddaughter: Shelby Rush; three stepdaughters: Verda Long, Louise Hall and Joyce Rueckert. Visitation will be Sunday, November 19 from 6-8 p.m. at Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock. Funeral service will be Monday, November 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Calico Rock Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Wayne Wood and Tom Campbell officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemtery. He spent his life as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, provider and friend. During his working years, he was employed at CertainTeed fiberglass factory in Kansas City, Kansas. He retired after 43 years of employment. He served in the United States Navy preceding the Vietnam War. He was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of the Calico Rock Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife of 22 years: Geneva Ballard of the home; one son: Kevin West of the home; one daughter: Sharon Lictieg of Kearney, Missouri; his mother: Fayetta Hall of Calico Rock; two brothers: Patrick Ballard of Mountain Home and Michael Ballard of Sierra Vista, Arizona; one sister: Melody Killebrew of Dolph; three grandchildren: Korey West, Jesse West Trystan Lictieg; two great grandchildren: Aries West and Scarlette West; uncle and aunt: Jack and Norma Carter of Des Moines, Iowa; and a host of other relatives and many good friends. Funeral service will be Monday, October 7 at 4:00 p.m. at Calico Rock Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Tom Campbell and Wayne Wood officiating. Burial will be at Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock, Arkansas.
