Snyder and wife Lyndell, Elizabethton; two grandsons, Tony and Lisa Snyder, Bluff City and Terry Snyder, Bristol Tennessee; granddaughter, Tracie and Kevin Wysor, and their mother, Diana Snyder; five great-grandchildren, Cody, Austin and Bryson Snyder and Emma and Kannon Wysor; and many nieces and nephews. The committal will be at the Weaver Cemetery. A special thanks to the doctors nurses and staff at Hermitage Nursing Home. on October 23, 2007.4

Surviving are his wife of 58 Ida Mae Musick Wood; a years, daughter, Joy Lynn Payne of Bluff Jr. of Simpsonville, S.C., and two sons, George H. Wood Jr. of Simpsonville, S.C., and Roy Glenn Wood of Blountville; a sister, Sally Snyder of Elizabethton; six grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be in the National Cemetery at Mountain Home with military honors by Patton-Crosswhite VFW. Post 6975 of Bristol. Among survivors are grandchildren Carl Wood, Valerie Sinn, Mariah Wood, Matthew Wood, Mecha Jarrett and Melanie Jarrett; and step-granddaughter Amanda Payne. on February 8, 2000.13

Wood and Lottie Framer Wood, she worked for the Tar Hill Mica Company for 30 years and was a member of the Burleson Chapel Freewill Baptist Church on Henson Creek. Survivors of Mrs. Carpenter include, husband, Lemuel A. Carpenter of the home, sons, Arthur Wayne Carpenter of Plumtree and Milan B. Carpenter of Hickory, daughter, Martha Thomas of Burnsville, sisters, Lucy Sparks of Newland, Gladys Arnold of Bristol TN, Christian Brewer of Bristol TN and Nell Tabor of Bristol, TN , and brother, Jack Wood of Bristol TN. Also survived by eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Interment will follow in the Little Elk Mountain Cemetery.1

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Warren Sparks; sisters, Vinnie Lee Carpenter, Wanda Carpenter and Jennette Wood; and one brother, Hanes Wood. Left to cherish her memories are her son, Skip Sparks and wife, Lynette, of Morganton; her three daughters, Betty Morris of Hickory, Velma Corn and husband, Eury, of the home and Marion McCall and husband, Randy, of Hilton Head, S.C; sisters, Nell Tolbert, Christine Booher and Gladys Arnold, all of Bristol, Tenn; and brothers, Jack Wood and C.W. Wood, both of Bristol, Tenn. Eleven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren also survive. Interment will follow in Ashley Cemetery. on November 21, 2009.1

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Vinnielee Ellen Carpenter, sisters Opal Johnson and Donnie Johnson and one brother Miles Carpenter. Survivors include sons Arthur Wayne Carpenter of Plumtree and Milas B. Carpenter of Hickory and a daughter Martha Thomas of Burnsville. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by brother, Milas Carpenter of Hickory, North Carolina; daughter, Sallie Whitson and husband Scotty of Unicoi, Tennessee; sons: Joey Thomas of Burnsville, Johnny Thomas of Burnsville, Gerald Thomas and wife Sheila of Erwin, Tennessee and Daniel Thomas and wife Sharon of Green Mountain. She also had twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
