Mrs. Elmore is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William D. and Pauline Elmore of Clifton; one step-son, Noble Elmore of Berryville; one brother and sister-in-law, Garland A. and Frances Morehead of Christiansburg; one sister, Thelma M. Morehead of Shawsville. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 29, 2000, at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg at 4 p.m. with the Pastor Drummond officiating. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon at the Givens Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. A private family burial will be conducted Sunday at the Elmore Family Cemetery at North Fork Mountain. on January 28, 2000.⁵

Born January 25, 1924 in Princeton, a son of Mrs. Juanita Raines Elmore Darst of Goldbond, Va., and the late Dexter Nelson Elmore. He was a retired employee of National Coil Co. of Bluefield, a member of the Baptist faith and a veteran of WWII serving I the U. S. Army. He has resided in Princeton since 1950. Other survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jewel Rice Elmore; four sons, Donald and Daniel Elmore, both of Bluefield, Johnny and Jerry Elmore, both of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Delores) Sisk of Princeton, Mrs. Larry (Susie) Reed of Tokyo, Japan, and Tina Elmore of the home; two brothers, Noble Elmore of Durham, N.C. and Billy Elmore of Wichester, Va; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at George W. Seaver Funeral Chapel with Rev. Cleadith Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ted Holden, Brian Walker, Joe Wagner, John McCoy, Harry Barfia and Bobby Barfia. on January 21, 1981.²

Mr. Elmore was born April 2, 1925 in Pearisburg, Virginia, the son of the late Dexter N. Elmore and Juanita Raines Elmore Darst. He owned and operated Elmore Construction Co. and Elmore Cabinet and Millwork in Lovettsville, VA for over 25 years. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He received a Victory Medal and American Theatre Medal. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Winchester. He was a member of the American Legion Post 41 and a lifetime member of the VFW. Surviving are a daughter, Victoria Elmore Brooks of Brentwood, TN; three sons, Nelson Alan Elmore and his wife, Kim, of Bluemont, VA, Nolan Andrew Elmore and his wife, Shelia, of Berryville, VA, and Noble Nelson Elmore, Jr. of Berryville, VA; a brother, Bill Elmore of Richmond, VA; 6 grandchildren, Jason, Timothy, Jennifer, Robbi, Justin and Jesse Brooks, and Kyle, Codee and Kegan Elmore and 8 great-grandchildren, Aaron, Daniel, Chaz, Josh, and Isaac Brooks, Elijah and Joseph Behnke, and Jayden Elmore. A grandson, Aaron Brooks, and a brother, Charles Elmore, preceded him in death. on October 1, 2015.⁴

     Jewell Elvira Rice PRINCETON — On Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012 Jewell Elvira Rice Elmore, 87, of Princeton, reached out and took the hand of the Lord whom she served faithfully and loves so much. Born Nov. 18, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John Dare Rice and Ella Mae Shelton Rice. She had many jobs in her life but the one she most loved was wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Elmore; youngest son, Jerry Michael Elmore; and two sisters, Jacqueline Thompson and Margie Francis. Those she left to follow her example are daughters, Delores Sisk and husband Fred, Susie Reed, Tina Etter and husband Bryon; sons, Donald Elmore and wife Alice, Daniel Elmore and wife Kathy, John Elmore and wife Tina. Also, her grandchildren who were the light of her life, Angela Sisk Davis and husband Bob, Jenette Reed Williams and husband Tom, Darrell Reed, Heather Sisk Keffer and husband Mark, Charlie Elmore, Brandon Etter and wife Tara, Kristin Phillips and Alan Thomas, and Kevin Etter and wife Rebekah; her great-grandchildren who brought smiles to her face, Nathaniel, William and Bradley Davis, Jeskia Phillips, Patience and John Michael Miller, Landon Etter and a great-grandson due in November. She is also survived by her niece, Mary Francis Armbrister and husband Blair; and two faithful canine companions, Chester and Snickers. Jewell was a member of the Ceres Baptist Church. In keeping with her wishes, Jewel has been cremated and there will be no services.³ She was born on November 18, 1924 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^1,3 As of November 13, 1946,her married name was Elmore.¹ She married Charles Edward Elmore, son of Dexter Nelson Elmore and Juanita Ailleen Raines, on November 13, 1946 at Tazewell, Tazewell Co., Virginia.^1,2,3 Jewell Elvira Rice died on August 23, 2012 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 87.³
