Bessie Anetta Stover was buried at Estep Cemetery, Ameagle, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.4 She Bessie Annetta Stover, 17 months old, died yesterday in a Charleston hospital from a bullet wound which members of her family said was inflicted accidentally by her 4-year-old brother. The fatal mishap occurred Saturday at the home in Lawson, Raleigh county. Relatives said the child followed her brother, Larry Donald, into a bedroom where the father, Freeman Stover, had placed his small caliber rifle after returning from hunting. The boy picked up the rifle and it discharged, the bullet striking his sister in the abdomen. An emergency operation was performed here that night. Also surviving are her mother and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cephus Jarrell and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Stover, all of Lawson. Rev. C. W. Pindar of Colcord will conduct services at 3 p.m. today in the residence. Valley mortuary of Whitesville will direct burial at Colcord.3 She was born on May 19, 1940 at Raleigh Co., West Virginia.2 She died on October 21, 1941 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 1.2,3

She was a retired cook of the Raleigh County Board of Education and a member of the Naoma Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter Tamela "Tammy" Dickens and parents, Grover and Juanita Hendrick, and a brother, Ernest Hendrick. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years Billy Gene Dickens and three daughters, Lisa Ann Stover of Shady Spring, Linda "Christine" and husband, Victor Rhodes, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Billie Jo and husband, Mark Skaggs, of Naoma, W.Va., three special granddaughters, Stephanie and husband, Mike Lipford, of Artie, WV, Ellie and Destiny Rhodes of Cleveland, Ohio, also three special grandsons, Gregory and wife Rebba Stover of Artie, W.Va., Jonathan and Michael Rhodes of Cleveland, Ohio, eight very special great-grandchildren, Bethany, Brooke, Isaac, Karlie, Draven, Lillie, Mikenley and Layla. She is also survived by a very special sister, Rose Ann and husband, Roger Elkins, of Beckley, and two brothers, George and wife, Blondie, of Arnett, and Willie and wife, Helen Hendrick, of Durban, W.Va., and many special nieces, nephews and friends. Service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at the Naoma Freewill Baptist Church, Naoma, with the Revs. David Cook and Larry Kinder officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Pallbearers will be Mike Lipford, Jonathan Rhodes, Victor Rhodes, Mark Skaggs, Gregory Stover, Steve Stover. Honorable mention pallbearers will be Danny Dickens, Jerry Dickens and Ricky Dickens. on September 22, 2012.3

He was born June 22, 1936 to the late Dessie Jane Clay-Dickens-Cooper and Peter "Pete" Herdle Dickens Sr. He was a long time faithful member and dedicated deacon of Naoma Freewill Baptist Church. He was a dependable and hard worker in the coal mines for 33 years. He enjoyed hunting, spending time with family, worshipping the Lord and spreading God’s love everywhere he went. To know Billy was to love him. His sense of humor and contagious laugh brought great joy to everyone he was around. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Linda Lou Hendrick-Dickens; a daughter Tamela "Tammy" Dickens; and his brothers and sisters, Roy Lee Dickens, Bertie Mae Dickens, Ruby "Agnes" Dickens, Peter "Pete" Herdle Dickens Jr., Vibert Dickens, Clyde Dickens, and Barbara Dickens. He is survived by one brother, Denny Dickens. He leaves behind to cherish his wonderful memory, his children, Lisa Ann Dickens-Clay and husband Keith Clay, Linda "Christine" Dickens-Rhodes and Victor Rhodes of Cleveland, OH, and Billie Jo Dickens-Skaggs and husband Mark Skaggs; seven grandkids, Stephanie Lipford, Gregory Stover, Jonathan Rhodes, Ellie Grose, Michael Rhodes, Destiny Rhodes and Kaitlynne Rhodes; seven great grandchildren, Bethany, Isaac, Karlie, Draven, Lillie, Mikenley, and Layla; and many dear cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be at Arnett Chapel Community Church, 4472 Coal River Rd. Arnett, WV 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm March 12, 2017. Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm, March 13, 2017 at Arnett Chapel Community Church with Rev. David Cook, Pastor Larry Kinder and Pastor Earl Brewer officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. on March 10, 2017.2
