The body is at Joe Combs Funeral Home in Ansted where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. on June 6, 1974.2

Peggy Marie Paxton Peggy Marie Paxton Manning, 76, formerly of New Castle, and of Mechanicsburg, Pa., passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Emeritus at Creekview, from Congestive Heart Failure. Born in New Castle, Va., on April 4, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Carl Paxton and the late Clara K. Brizendine-Paxton Lincoln, and was also preceded in death by her brother, Henry L. Paxton. Peggy was a quiet Southern lady who was devoted to her family, enjoyed embroidery, word seek puzzles, fried chicken, cooking shows, Country Music and the beach. She loved being with people and she spread happiness with her smile. Peggy was the widow of William F. Manning Jr. who died October 3, 1972. Surviving are her daughters, Deborah L. Manning, of Roanoke, Va., Janet M. Kumpf and her husband, Michael L. Kumpf, of New Cumberland, Pa., and Kathy R. Bandy, of Roanoke, Va; a grandson, James L. Day and his wife, Ivy M. Day; two great- granddaughters, Samantha P. Fogle and Taylor L. Day; her sister-in-law, Helen P. Stapleton; niece, Melissa Paxton; and numerous cousins. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. A special thank you to the loving, supportive staff at Emeritus: Kathleen, Ali, Sheila, JoAnn, Jean, Matt, Ziggy and many others. Dead is Thomas Henry Sisson who state police said walked into the side of a car driven by an Ohio man, James P. Wetenko of Cleveland. The accident occurred about 12:50 p.m. near the Sissonville exit. Police quoted Wetenko as saying he did everything possible to avoid hitting the man. Sisson was a Sissonville carpenter. Survivors include his widow, Rena Mae; sons, James and Bob, both of Sissonville; mother, Mrs. Vicie Sisson of Sissonville; sisters, Mrs. Mary Reed, Mrs. Helen Kingrey, both of Sissonville; Mrs. Mildred Jones of Dunbar, Mrs. Lucy Belknap of Damariscotta, Maine; brother, Hillard of Sissonville. The body is at Long-Fisher Funeral Home and will be taken to the residence at 4 p.m. today. Service win be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Second Creek Community Church. Burial will be in the family cemetery at Sissonville. on September 5, 1966.5
