A former timberman, logger, carpenter, mason, mechanic and machinist, he enjoyed hunting, outdoors, playing music with his family and spending time with his family and friends. He was of the Baptist Faith and was baptized by the late John Walker. Preceded in death by his son, Ernest Lee "Ernie" Smith; one grandson, Dee Cee Cochran; and several brothers and sisters. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 52 years, Claudia Blevins Smith of Kirby Mt; three children, Wilford David Smith of Indiana, Victoria Smith Kesler and husband John David of Kirby Mt. and Wilford Smith Jr. and wife Sybil of Kirby Mt; seven grandchildren, Dalton Elijah Lee Smith, Kristen Cales, Ariel Smith, Riley McKee, Eli Smith, Jossie Smith and Shenandoah Cochran; six great grandchildren, Juliette, Shenabelle, Daniel III, Caroline, Anna Marie and Tipton; two sisters, Clara Persinger of Princeton and Leota Cantley of Lowell; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Roger Persinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Baptist Church Cemetery. on November 21, 2016.1
