He was also an extremely gentle and generous man who will be greatly missed. One summer, Ed and Shirley covered the cost for each child who attended the church’s Vacation Bible School to receive a Bible. Ed is survived by his brother, Kenneth H. Silvis, of Bear Lake, PA; three nephews, Roy, Shawn, and Jeffrey Silvis; as well as his church family and friends. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death on April 25, 2016, by his wife, Shirley A. (Dykes) Silvis, whom he married May 26, 1972, at the First Church of the Nazarene, in Warren; and a brother, Larry A. Silvis. A private burial service will be held at Barnes Cemetery, with Rev. Michael Poindexter, pastor, Pleasant Community Church, officiating. on April 10, 2018.²
