He was born in New Philadelphia, Ohio and was a longtime resident of Akron, where he married his high school sweetheart, Martha. Harry was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, where he served in the Pacific and took part in the Battle of Iwo Jima as a Rifle M1 Sharpshooter. Harry retired from the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspections and Insurance Company (Babcox and Wilcox) with 35 years of service, and he was also along-time member of the Adoniram Joppa Masonic Lodge 517 F&AM. Harry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Martha (Cunningham), daughter, Linda (Sengpiel) "First Lady of Yo," and many other loving family members. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Caruthers; grandchildren, Todd (Lori) Caruthers, Jeff and Harry Caruthers, Rick Sengpiel, Martha (Robert) Cromleigh and William (Heidi) Sengpiel; eight great-grandchildren; his special boy, Dickie; nephew, William (Emaline) Lorenz; brother-in-law, Fred (Louise) Cunningham; and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. A special thank you to nephew, Jamie Cunningham and all caregivers, especially his neighbor, Patty. His dog, Rainbow, was a faithful companion that never left his side for over 19 years.
