Malcomb Avenue, Chanute, Neosho Co., Kansas.¹ She Born Marjorie Grider in Benedict, Kan., on August 25, 1922, Marjorie Bodley Shepherd passed away at the age of 92 on March 20, 2015 in Tucson, Ariz., after a short illness. Marjorie was raised and educated in southeast Kansas, where she graduated from Neosho Community College in Chanute, Kan. She later furthered her education with two years of extension courses through the University of Chicago and attended classes at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Marjorie married F. Eugene Bodley in Chanute in 1944, and the couple and their four children resided in Neodesha, Kan., until 1961 when they moved to Boulder, Colo. Mr. Bodley died in 1973. Marriage to Paul E. Shepherd took place in Golden, Colo., in 1977. The couple subsequently moved to Tucson, Ariz., where they resided in the Rolling Hills subdivision and were members of the Rolling Hills Country Club from 1977 onward. Mr. Shepherd died in 1990. Marjorie Shepherd raised four children, but she also pursued a career. She worked as a news reporter for the Chanute Tribune newspaper, and later with the Kansas City Star-Times newspaper. Subsequently, she was an advertising copywriter with radio station KBOL in Boulder, Colo. Marjorie enjoyed traveling to foreign countries as far-flung as England, Spain, Morocco, Tahiti and New Zealand. Her many activities included reading, gourmet cooking, listening to music, especially classical and opera, and golf. She is survived by two sons: H.C. Bodley of Tucson, and Ian Bodley and wife, Janice, of Longmont, Colo; and by two daughters: Corliss Weeks of Hudson, Wis., and Rebecca Moar and husband, Bruce, of Pittsford, N.Y. Six grandsons also survive, as well as two great-grandsons. No services will be held in Tucson. Following cremation, internment will be in the Bodley family mausoleum at Elmwood Abbey in Chanute, Kan.¹ She was born on August 25, 1922 at Benedict, Wilson Co., Kansas.¹ As of 1944,her married name was Bodley.¹ She married Franklin Eugene Bodley II, son of Harold Clifton Bodley and Margaret A. Services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Prentice funeral home, with burial in Lakewood cemetery. on October 21, 1972.⁴
