     Dr. Richard Dean Dobbins Dr. Richard D. Dobbins, 86, an internationally known Christian psychologist, minister, radio and television personality, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at his home in Naples, FL, due to heart failure. He founded Emerge Ministries in Akron, Ohio, one of the nation’s first Christian Mental Health Centers, which he led for over 30 years. In 2004, Dr. Dobbins founded Richard D. Dobbins Ministries Inc., devoting his time to writing and videotaping the invaluable practical truths God had shared with him. An acclaimed author, Dr. Dobbins has created numerous film/video presentations that are being taught throughout the world to help believers apply the principals of their faith to the practical issues of their lives. He has written many books, booklets, articles, and audiotapes on Christian mental health care. He has served on the graduate faculty of Ashland Theological Seminary, as well as University of Akron, Central Bible College, and Southeastern University. As a Staley Foundation lecturer, he has taught on the campuses of various universities and colleges across America. Clinically, he has counseled over 10,000 people and today was still teaching people worldwide. He also has been featured on numerous television and radio interview programs, such as The 700 Club, PTL, TBN, Crossroads TV, the Canadian National Television Network and Channel 38 in Chicago. Dr. Dobbins was preceded in death by his first wife Dolores Shumate Dobbins; mother Ruby Catherine Dean Dobbins; step-mother Leila Dobbins; father Worthy Walter Dobbins and sister Fern Schonauer. Dr. Dobbins is survived by his wife Priscilla Adams Dobbins (20 years); a son William Dobbins and his wife Daralene, of Rochester, NY; two daughters Ilene Myers and her husband Marcus of Stow, OH and Sharon Alberson and her husband Ramsey of North Hampton, OH; five grandchildren Evan Dobbins, Renee’ Rosales, Ryan Myers, Ross Myers and Heather Alberson; nine great grandchildren; sister Ruby Ausbury and her husband Phil of Tallmadge, OH; brother-in-law Sam Schonauer of Hartville, OH and numerous nieces, nephew, extended family and dear friends. Local visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, from 9:30 to 11 am at Victory Church 1401 Griffin Road, Lakeland, FL. She was born October 12 1927 in Memphis Tennessee to Jasper Green Smithson and Eloise Willson Smithson. She graduated from Memphis Central High School in 1945 then worked as a medical secretary until she met the love of her life William Edwin (Bill) Dean on a blind date. They married September 27 1952 at Temple Baptist Church in Memphis Tennessee. In 1954 Bill and Margaret moved to San Antonio Texas when Bill was transferred by his employer. A faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church since 1958 Margaret loved singing with the Chorale and later the SonShineSingers. She treasured the learning and friendships she developed over 50 years as a member of Discmus Study Club. She enjoyed cooking decorating travelling and in later years playing dominoes with friends and family. Margaret's family was always important to her and she loved hearing about the activities of all of her children grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill Dean; father Jasper Green Smithson; and mother Eloise Willson Smithson. Survived by her brother Jack Smithson and wife Judy of McHenry Illinois; daughter Victoria and husband Dale Wood; son Steve Dean and wife Carola; grandchildren Steven Dean II and wife Faith Ann, Will Dean, Lauren Dean; step-grandchildren Jennifer Pogue and husband Marshall, Lauren Wood, Elliot Wood and wife Loryn of Sugarland Texas and 12 great-grandchildren. We wish to thank her caregivers Marcella Melissa Ruby and Jennifer for their loving care of our mother. Fern served Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. as an Executive Secretary and retired with 20 years of service. She will be remembered for her deep faith in her Savior Jesus Christ, her sense of humor, and warm personality. For many years, she attended Grace Bible Church in Manchester. The family wants to thank hospice care and the many other staff members and friends at the AlterCare Nursing Home in Hartville, Ohio who loved and cared for Fern while she was there. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Haven Of Rest Ministries, 175 E. Market St. Akron, Ohio. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 5 from 10:30 to 12 followed by a 12 noon funeral service with Rev. Joel Cochran of the Chapel in Marlboro officiating at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. on February 3, 2013.4

The latter part of her life was spent caring for her grandchildren and supporting her husband in the work of EMERGE Ministries, a Christian counseling center located at 900 Mull Ave. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Richard D; daughters, llene Myers of Stow, Sharon Alberson of Huntington, Conn; son, William of Rochester, N.Y; four grandchildren; sisters, Max-ine Allshouse of Atlanta, Ga., Opal Monk and Dorothy Gibson, both of Akron, Rowena Kopie of Phoenix, Ariz. Dolores was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be missed by all who knew her. Her example of sincere Christian service will serve as an inspiration to those whose lives she touched. Funeral service Monday, 11 a.m., at Evangel Temple, 688 Dan St., Pastor Derrill Sharp officiating. Friends may call at the church Sunday, 6 to 9 p.m., and one hour prior to service on Monday. Burial at Stow Cemetery. on June 13, 1992.7
