She was a retired employee of the Chimney Corner Tea Room and a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons, Dan R. Simpson of Ashland, Robert M. Simpson of Charleston, S.C., and David Simpson of Wurtland; a brother, William Garvin of LaGrange; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home by the Rev. Gary Wurts. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. on December 24, 1995.2

Blazer High School and a Vietnam veteran who served with the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW, a Cub Scout leader for many years and a member of the Baptist faith. Robert worked 32 years for the National Weather Service as a meteorologist technician, where he received numerous awards for outstanding service. He was a volunteer driver for Grayson Meals on Wheels. He retired in 1999 and moved back to his roots in the mountains. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four uncles, Paul Simpson, Earl Ray Simpson, James Simpson and Charles Simpson, and two aunts, Thelma Schorman and Pearl Mae Rzechowski. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Walker Simpson; a daughter, Mary Ann Lewis of Grayson; a granddaughter, Megan Dawn Lewis of Grayson; a great-grandson, Ryland Scott Pfau of Grayson; two brothers, Danny Ray Simpson of Ashland and James David Simpson of Flatwoods; and three uncles, Jack Simpson and Donnie Simpson, both of Ashland, and Bill Garvin of Louisville. He is also survived by special friends Dean Miller of Charleston, S.C., Anthony Rhoden of Grayson, Jarrod Kelly of Grayson and Kristopher Felty and a host of cousins and friends. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by Gary Wurts, minister. Burial will be in Cribbs Hill Cemetery, with military rites by the East Carter JROTC. on September 17, 2008.3

He was born July 17, 1951, in Ironton, Ohio, a son of the late Charles Orville & Opal Reynolds Simpson. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Pamela Parsons Simpson, in 2003. Charlie was a graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School and retired in 1998 as a captain of the Ashland Fire Department with more than 20 years of service. He loved being involved with teaching children the importance of fire safety. He and Steve Greene were co-owners of G&S Fire Extinguisher Sales and Service. He later went on to own and operate Superior Supply Inc. Charlie was a trustee at Rose Road Chapel when it was founded in 1977, and he was actively involved through the years, whether it was serving refreshments at vacation Bible school or singing with the Joint Heirs. He served as treasurer, and was faithful to attend and worship the Lord he loved and served. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Dixon Simpson of Ashland; a daughter, April Simpson McFarlin and husband Greg of Ashland; a sister, Sharon Aliff of Michigan; his No. 1 grandson, Gregory McFarlin Jr; his No. 1 granddaughter, Heather McFarlin; and a host of loving extended family members and friends. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland, with words of comfort by Pastor Leroy Dixon and Pastor Troy "Trey" Parsons III. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Ashland. on February 25, 2016.2
