"Jack" Blevins, 80, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013, in Fayetteville, Ga. Mr. Blevins lived most of his adult life in Dunbar and was a lifelong Christian. Jack was a Korean War veteran who served as a staff sergeant in the 11th Engineer Combat Battalion, Company B "Jungle Cats" in the United States Army from 1950 to 1953. He received the Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal. Mr. Blevins was a West Virginia State Police trooper from 1955 to 1959, based in South Charleston and Hinton. He then worked at Union Carbide, Institute, for 27 years and retired on December 1, 1986. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Lee Blevins and Rosa Lee Green Blevins; and a brother, James Odell "Joe" Blevins. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald C. and Tabitha Blevins of Palestine, Texas, and the Rev. Gregory D. and Sarah Blevins of Clarksburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda K. and Randy Marion of Fayetteville, Ga; four grandchildren, John Blevins, Susan Blevins, Spencer Marion and Thomas Marion; three sisters, Irene Ashley and Carol Lee Ashley, both of Bristol, Va., and Delma Kirby of Dunbar; and two brothers, Dwight Blevins and wife, Phyllis, and Kenny Blevins, all of Chilhowie, Va. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Macedonia Baptist Church, Chilhowie, with Preacher Tim Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. on March 7, 2013.²

Born December 11, 1947 in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Georgia Arlestine Vest Wadford and Edward Monroe Wadford. Mr. Wadford was a veteran of the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a Superintendent for the John M. Campbell Construction Company, Monroe for 20 years before retiring. Mr. Wadford was a member of Faith Baptist Church, the Harvest Sunday School Class and Faith Baptist Men’s Mission. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Danny Roger Wadford on October 30, 2005 and a sister, Joyce Wadford Gardner. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Anita Willis Wadford; children, Timothy James Wadford of Raleigh, NC, Rebecca Kiser and husband John of Charlotte, NC and Kenneth Charles Frost and wife Tiffany of Salisbury, NC; brother, Steven Wadford of Lexington, SC; sisters, Carol Rae Smith and husband O’Neal of Lexington, SC, Valree Wooten and husband Doug of Lexington, SC, Charleen Fitzgerald and husband Joe of West Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Heather Wadford, Dana Wadford, L.J. Graveside services will be aat Llano Cemetery. Judy was born on March 21, 1932 in Princeton, West Virginia to Robert and Ruby Tolley. She married Charlie Martin on November 9, 1963. She was a homemaker for the biggest part of her life raising five children. She always put others before herself. A good example is taking care of her mother and mother-in-law in her home until their death. She loved spending time with her family, and when possible going back to West Virginia, and to their cabin in Red River. She attended Second Baptist Church with her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bobby and Jimmy Tolley. She is survived by her husband, Charlie Martin; her children, Mike and Kim Vest of Amarillo, Tori and Keith Holloway of Amarillo, Tony and Sheryl Martin of Wimberley, Texas, Lisa and James Beach of Amarillo and Kim and Jeff Iseral of Amarillo, twenty five grandchildren and thirty three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Judy is also survived by three sister-in-law's, Glenda Tolley of Amarillo, Ella Pearl Kirk of Cheyenne, OK., Jean Tolley of Borger, TX and one brother-in-law, Johnny Martin of Springfield, MO.² She was born on March 21, 1932 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^3,2 As of October 11, 1949,her married name was Vest.¹ She married Denny Darrell Vest, son of Arlie Grant Vest and Georgia Myrtle Long, on October 11, 1949 at Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.¹ Loretta June Tolley died on January 19, 2020 at Amarillo, Randall Co., Texas, at age 87.^3,2

     Hubert Norton Sicks Hubert Sicks, 66, died unexpectedly Sunday morning at his home in Fairmount. He was a native of Boone Co., where he was born, the son of Henry and Effie (Norton) Sicks, both deceased. Surviving are the wife Lucile; two sons, Philip and John; a daughter, Judy; a twin brother, Herbert, Sarasota, Florida and another brother Dr. O. W. Sicks, Indianapolis. Mr. Sicks was a cousin of the late Clayton Sicks, Lebanon. She was a member of Broadstreet Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Donald F; her father, Lloyd Nighbert, Indiana; a son, Leigh J., South Carolina; a daughter, Kari L. McCallister, South Carolina; three sisters, Joanne Davidson, Indiana, Leota Hack, Texas, and Emily Rose Ralston, Indiana; and a grandchild.

     Robert Moffat "Bob" Kelsey Jr. was buried at Saint Johns Lutheran Cemetery, La Porte, La Porte Co., Indiana.^5,4 He was born on February 10, 1928 at Louisville, Jefferson Co., Kentucky.^2,3,5 He married Edna Maahs on October 16, 1951.⁴ Robert Moffat "Bob" Kelsey Jr. died on October 15, 2011 at La Porte, La Porte Co., Indiana, at age 83.^2,4,5 He Robert M. Kelsey Jr., M.D. LAPORTE - As a physician, he portrayed the image of Marcus Welby, M.D., a family practitioner with a kind bedside manner. Yet he had a fascinating personal life that included a stint as a Navy fighter pilot, crossing paths with Muhammad Ali, and rafting the Colorado River. Longtime LaPorte physician, Dr. Bob Kelsey, 83, died October 15th at home of complications resulting from chronic pulmonary illness. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, he was raised in LaPorte after his father opened his own Maple City medical practice in 1931. His mother, Vensetta, was a nurse. Both had a profound influence on his career choice, as well as his extremely strong work ethic, but first he sought adventure. After graduating from LaPorte High School in 1946, he briefly attended DePauw University before joining the Navy and becoming an aircraft carrier pilot during the Korean War. "Dad loved to fly, and he was proud of his service," said his oldest son, Bob. "He continued his membership in the Tail Hook Association, and he proudly displayed an actual aircraft tail hook in his front yard." When he returned from the service, Dr. Kelsey completed his college education at DePauw and then graduated from the University of Louisville Medical School in 1959. As a medical student, he once performed a Golden Gloves Tournament pre-boxing physical examination on a young Cassius Clay, who later went on to win the World Heavyweight Championship. After finishing a one-year internship at Presbyterian-St. Luke's (Rush University) Hospital in Chicago, Dr. Kelsey opened and managed his extremely busy family practice in 1960 until he retired some 40 years later. "A lot of people in LaPorte County and the surrounding areas were brought into this world by my dad," said his daughter, Marcia Cesafsky. She explained, "Even though he was a family doctor, he annually delivered two or three hundred babies during the peak years of his practice." He served two full terms as the President of the Medical Staff at LaPorte Hospital and also served as President of the LaPorte County Medical Association. He was on the Board of two area nursing homes and served as Medical Director of Country Side Nursing Home for a number of years. During the 1960s he even was the physician for the LaPorte County Jail and the County Home. Dr. Kelsey was active beyond his profession and, before his illness, held a number of elected positions on various Boards and Committees at St. John's Lutheran Church. He was an avid sport fisherman and, prior to this year, took annual treks to Northern Wisconsin angling for Muskie and Walleye. Just before his retirement in 1999, he went on an eight-day rafting expedition down the Colorado River. On October 16th, he would have been married to his surviving wife, Edna (Maahs) for 60 years. Other survivors include his four children, Robert (Beth) Kelsey of Carol Stream, IL, Marcia (Barry) Cesafsky of Chicago, Sandra (Kirby) Chapman of Naperville, IL, and Stephen (Joan) Kelsey of LaPorte. There are nine grandchildren and a surviving sister, Cynthia (late Marvin) Frampton of Indianapolis. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 18, at 4:00 P.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church, located at 111 Kingsbury Avenue in LaPorte. A private burial will take place at a later time in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. on October 17, 2011.⁴

     Edna Maahs was born on May 30, 1927 at La Porte, La Porte Co., Indiana.² As of October 16, 1951,her married name was Kelsey.¹ She married Robert Moffat "Bob" Kelsey Jr., son of Dr. Robert Moffat Kelsey and Vensetta Irene Lewis, on October 16, 1951.¹
