     Phyllis Pearl Likens Phyllis P. Hickman, 72, of Martinsville went home to be with her Maker surrounded by the warmth and love of her family and friends on Monday, December 10th, 2012 at 10:18 p.m. at Grandview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Martinsville. She was born on December 30, 1939 in Charleston, West Virginia, to the late John Thomas and LuVina (Grounds) Likens. In 1954 she came to Martinsville with her family, where she lived for remainder of her life. On June 29, 1958 she married her soul mate, Harlan Wesley Hickman, Sr., who was at heaven’s door to carry her over the threshold again. Phyllis was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who often worked overtime to make meals from scratch. Gifted at crafts, Phyllis could often be found making dolls and sewing dresses. She took special interest in her children and grandchildren, making sure to pass her skills to the next generations. She was a member of the Abounding Grace Worship Center in Martinsville. She will be missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends including her three daughters, Pamela (husband, Phil) Bird, Janie (husband, Keith) Law and Norma (husband, Steven) Dawson all of Martinsville; four sons, Wesley (wife, Wanda) Hickman, Arlie Hickman, Melvin (wife, Candy) Hickman and Marvin (wife, Dawn) Hickman all of Martinsville; 12 grandchildren, Mathew, Brandon, Justin, Jordan, Austin, Abby, Emily and Madison Hickman, Bryan Dawson, Bryce Law and Joe & Krista Bird; 7 great grandchildren; one brother, her twin, Jimmie Likens of Knoxville, TN; and four sisters, Betty Pardue of Monticello, IN, Charlene Pierle of Indianapolis, Jo Likens and Margaret Isley of Knoxville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harlan on July 24, 1999; one infant child; two brothers, Delbert & Eugene Likens and one sister, Carolyn Jean Likens. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, December 13th from 4-8:00 p.m. and on Friday, Dec. 14th from 10-11 a.m. at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center. There will be a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14th at the funeral home and burial will follow in New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.      Caroline Jean Likens was buried at Perry Family Cemetery (also known as Decota Cemetery), Decota, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.² She was born on January 22, 1945 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.² She died on July 27, 1945 at Dry Creek, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.²

     Ireta Ann Monroe was buried at Weeping Willow Cemetery, Beanblossom, Brown Co., Indiana.^3,4,2 Her Social Security Number was 309-38-3866.⁵ She was born on June 17, 1935 at Beanblossom, Brown Co., Indiana.^5,3,1,2 As of July 29, 1957,her married name was Likens.¹ She married Kenneth Eugene Likens, son of John Thomas "Tommy" Likens and Lue Vina Grounds, on July 29, 1957 at Indiana.¹ Ireta Ann Monroe died on February 2, 2009 at Morgantown, Morgan Co., Indiana, at age 73.^5,3,4,2 She Ireta Ann Likens, 73, of Morgantown, died Monday at her residence. She had worked as a caregiver and housekeeper at the Brown County Health & Living Community for 17 years. Survivors include three daughters, Radelle Deckard of Helmsburg, Shari Chastain of Fruitdale and Diana Anglemyer of Spencer; one son, Thomas Likens of Indianapolis; a half sister, Mary Agnes Monroe of Nashville; and a half brother, George Monroe of Evanston, Ill. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville. Burial will be at Weeping Willow Cemetery in Bean Blossom. on February 4, 2009.⁴

     Harlan Wesley Hickman Sr. was buried at New South Park Cemetery, Martinsville, Morgan Co., Indiana.^2,3 His Social Security Number was 306-34-4437.⁴ He was born on October 27, 1935 at Morgan Co., Indiana.^2,3,4 He married Phyllis Pearl Likens, daughter of John Thomas "Tommy" Likens and Lue Vina Grounds, on June 29, 1958 at Martinsville, Morgan Co., Indiana.^1,2,3 Harlan Wesley Hickman Sr. died on July 24, 1999 at Martinsville, Morgan Co., Indiana, at age 63.^1,2,3,4 He Harlan Wesley Hickman Sr., 63, of Martinsville, died from natural causes at 6:46 a.m. July 24, 1999, at Morgan County Memorial Hospital. He had lived all of his life in Morgan County. Born Oct. 27, 1935, in Morgan County, he was the son of Arlie E. and Mary M. (Anderson) Hickman, both deceased. He married Phyllis P. Likens June 29, 1958, who survives. Hickman had been a punch press operator for Twigg Corp. in Martinsville for approximately 29 years. He retired in 1995. He attended the General Assembly Church of the First Born in Martinsville. He served in the National and State guards for several years. Other survivors include four sons, Wesley, Arlie and Melvin Hickman of Martinsville and Marvin Hickman of California; three daughters, Pamela Hickman, Janie Law and Norma Dawson, all of Martinsville; two sisters, Ruby Kenworthy and Gladys Thacker, both of Martinsville; one brother, Donald E. Hickman of Martinsville; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Brandon, Justin, Abby, Jordan and Austin Hickman, Bryan Dawson and Bryce Law. A twin brother, Marlin Hickman, and a stillborn child preceded him in death. The service was 11 a.m. July 26, 1999, at Neal & Summers Mortuary. The Rev. Mike Aldridge and Stan White officiated. Burial was in New South Park Cemetery. on July 26, 1999.³
