Born November 6, 1933 in Jonesville, VA to Otis and Nina Reese Hines. He graduated Jonesville High School in 1950. Attended National Business College, Knoxville, TN. Served in the Army (54-56) during the Korean Conflict. He worked for McCalls-Dayton Press (Dayton, OH) for 27 years, and the Atlanta Journal Constitution (Atlanta, GA) for 13 years until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Alpharetta, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents Otis and Nina Reese Hines, brother W.R. Hines, and sister Juanita Garrett. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Hines, daughters Leslie (Tracy) Ross, Debbie (Wayne) Touart, and Kelli (Michael) Lambertson, brothers Kelly Hines and Roy Hines, sisters Lois Hedrick, Sharyn Edwards, and Linda Cridlin, grandchildren John (Katy) Stewart, Michael Stewart, Christopher (Stephanie) Stewart, Evan Touart, and Avery Lambertson, and 4 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Alpharetta First Baptist Church Friday May 29th at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Veteran's National Cemetery in Canton, GA. on May 17, 2015.⁴
