Born Jan. 18, 1927, in Jonesville, Va., she was the daughter of Claude and Maude (Woodward) Roop. She married Benjamin C. Neeley on Jan. 30, 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2002. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother. Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Fortner and husband Danny, Diana Hall and husband Jon, and Kim Bertolino and husband Tom all of Bedford; three sons, Ben Neeley and wife Jane and Roger Dale Neeley and wife Rita, all of Bedford, and Wendell Merle Neeley of Mitchell; two brothers, John C. Roop of Schertz, Texas and Claude Roop of Mitchell; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Jeanette Bridwell; and a granddaughter, Kelli Denise Neeley. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. on December 9, 2008.2
