Monk on August 31, 1963 at Freeman, Mercer Co., West Virginia.1,2,3 Betsy Charlene Vest died on September 8, 2014 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 69.1,5 She PRINCETON — Betsy Charlene Vest Monk, 69, of City View Heights, Princeton died peacefully late Monday evening, September 8, 2014 at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born January 26, 1945, in Battle Creek, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Charles Benson Vest and Hazel May Warren Villeneuve Vest. Betsy graduated from Bramwell High School in 1963. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. For many years, Betsy was a caregiver for many families in our area who had loved ones recovering from illnesses and those who had not had long to live. Betsy also loved to sing for the Lord, the Lord blessed her with an angelic voice that she shared with many people throughout the years. She was a great cook and went beyond giving of herself to help other. She was a member of Shawnee Baptist Church near Kegley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three children, Christian Love Monk and Infant twins. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Kenton D. Monk; four children Wendell Ryan Monk and wife Brenda, Charmain Lynnette Monk Roberts and fiancée Johnny Counts, Charissia Lynn Monk Fanning and husband Daniel, Weston Rush Monk and wife Melissa; 10 grandchildren; siblings, Athelene Ann Villeneuve, Joann Josephine Villeneuve, John Joseph Villeneuve Jr., Brenda Darlene Gibbs, Eunice Starlene Dickerson, Debra Adelia White; a host of Nieces and Nephews; and her special caregivers, Mona Hamden, Neva Blankenship and Larry and Linda Davis. Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton. on September 10, 2014.1

     Kenton Derrow "K.D." Monk was buried at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 1917 West Main Street, Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia.2,3 He Kenton Derrow “K.D.” Monk, 73 of City View Heights, Princeton died late Friday night, December 2, 2016. Born January 27, 1943 at Matoaka, he was the son of the late Eura Monk & Violet Wood Monk. K.D. was educated in Mercer County and graduated from McClain’s Business College in Bluefield. He had along career in banking spanning more than 41 years with First Community Bank. He was a member of Shawnee Baptist Church near Kegley. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. K.D. loved to listen to Blue Grass & gospel music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betsy Charlene Vest Monk, along with a daughter Christian Love Monk and infant twins. Survivors include his four children; Wendell & Brenda Monk, Charmain & Johnny Counts, Charissia & Daniel Fanning, Weston & Melissa Monk, 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Special friends Larry & Linda Davis and sincere appreciation to Amedisys Hospice for their loving care. Gibbs, 60, of Evergreen Road, died Saturday at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo after a long illness. He was born in Battle Creek and was a lifelong area resident. He was a salesman for 15 years for Horner-Coppin auto agency, and also was employed in sales by Knight's Inc. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion, and a former golden gloves boxer. Surviving are his wife, the former Brenda Vest; daughters, Janet Wilkins of Hastings, Richardia L. Gibbs of Lansing, and Brenda R. Gibbs, at home; sons, Richard R. Gibbs and Ronald W. Gibbs, both of Battle Creek; three grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Laboch of Battle Creek. A son, Brendan Gibbs, died in 1971. Services will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery. on November 5, 1984.3
