She was an employee of Concord College in Athens in the Twin Towers Dormitory with the maintenance department, where she was known by the students as “Granny.” She was preceded in death by a grandaughter, Kathy Michelle Abshire. Survivors: husband, Billy R. Grimm; sons, Noland David Woodring of Dandridge, Tenn., and Gary Lee Woodring of Princeton; daughters, Ms. Marilyn Janisse Abshire of Princeton and Mrs. Mike (Deborah Jean) Griffith of Pipestem; stepson, Robert Grimm of Raphine, Va; sister, Ms. Irma Jean Hall of Princeton; brothers, Paul Cecil of Christiansburg, Va., Robert Cecil of Bear, Del., Earl “Pete” Cecil of Princeton, and James Everidge of Newark. Del; and seven grandchildren and two great grand children. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Burns-Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton, with the Rev. Terry Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Athens Cemetery in Athens. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. He was a retired service manager after 26 years of service with Evans Chevrolet and Cadillac in Bluefield and was a former owner-operator of Joyce’s Place in Hinton with his late wife. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a graduate of Athens High School and a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife. Joyce Cecil Grimm, and one brother, Harrison Grimm. Survivors include one son, Robert Wayne Grimm of Fishersville, Va; two stepsons, Noland Woodring of Dandridge, Tenn., and Gary Woodring of Princeton; two stepdaughters, Janisse Kesler of Princeton and Debbie Griffith of Pipestem; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Edward Grimm and his wife, Lou of Cedar Bluff, Va., and Dr. James Kyle Grimm and wife JoAnn of Harrisonburg, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Clifford Schell officiating. Burial will follow in the Athens Cemetery in Athens.
