     Jack Lester Whitacre was buried at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Dallas Co., Texas.^5,6 He JACK LESTER WHITACRE, September 18, 1948 - February 02, 2013, U.S. Veteran "POPPY" 64, of Glenn Heights, TX passed away on Saturday - February 02, 2013. He was a decorated Vietnam War veteran and Combat Promoted for saving the life of General Westmoreland after his chopper went down in a mine field. Jack was a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and was named Eagle Eyes because of how well he watched over his children. He never faltered in his love and adoration for anyone he considered family which was everyone. He raised and guided over 100 children during some of the worst times of their lives. His outlook on life and his ability to fight anything that life threw at him was remarkable and should be an inspiration to all of us. His strength flows through his grandchildren. Mr. Whitacre was preceded in death by a sister: Pat Tate and is survived by his wife: Kay "Hefer" Whitacre; daughter & son in law: Angel Marie "Little Hefer" & Ingo Hehner; son & daughter in law: Janoah "Gorilla" & Heather Whitacre; grandchildren: Logan "Trooper" Hehner & Lorelai "Little Monkey" Whitacre; brother: Harold Whitacre; numerous nieces & nephews and Jack's babies Duke & Dutchess "Little Shit". Graveside Services and Interment with Military Honors will be held on Friday - February 08, 2013 at 9:15 A.M. in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mt. Those serving as pallbearers will be Harold Whitacre, Janoah Whitacre, John Callahan, Jason Callahan, Ingo Hehner, Kevin Whitacre, Chief Bear and Michael Turner. Fayrene was a proud retiree from Wal-Mart. She enjoyed crocheting, fiddling with her plants, crossword puzzles, reading romance novels, milk chocolate without nuts, and hummingbirds. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sisters, son Toby Hearen, daughter-in-law Lynda Urban-Hearen, and her beloved cat Hummer. She is survived by her sons Ronald (Rose) of Tomball; Donald (Betty) of Austin; Dennis of Austin. She also leaves behind her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to than Hospice of Austin for all their support and care during her final days. We are proud and honored to be her sons and daughters-in-law. on December 26, 2009.⁶
