Albert was a charter member of Northview United Methodist Church and a member of Melrose Masonic Lodge. He was a fifty year member and a 32nd degree Mason. He retired from Exxon after 35 years of service. He loved bluegrass and gospel music. Surviving are four devoted sons, Ross and wife Stacy, Linden and wife Terry all of Roanoke, Kelly and wife Cathy of Randleman, NC, and Tim and wife Kathleen of Gainesville, GA; grandsons, Jason, Joshua, Aaron, Robin, Graham and Jamie; granddaughters, Becky, Kelsey and Cassidy; great grandchildren, AJ, Hannah Courtney, Jason Jr., Savannah, and Penelope. Also surviving are his loving sister, Dorothy Scott of Rocky Mount; many special nieces and nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Building Fund C/O Northview United Methodist Church or to the Samaritan Inn. Masonic rites will be conducted 8 p.m. Friday at Simpson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Northview United Methodist Church by the Rev. Joseph Klotz. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. on December 1, 2016.2

He retired from Associated Transport and was a member of Faith Baptist Church and the Lakeside McDonalds Breakfast Club. Tom loved gospel music and enjoyed farm tours. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Pendleton and a step-daughter, Sandra Stover. Tom is survived by his wife, Marie W. Lewis Pendleton; daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Billy Paxton of Roanoke; step-daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Woody Underwood of Salem and Angie and Jason Utt of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Jaime (Joey) Taylor and Jarrod (Amanda) Paxton; step-grandchildren Chris (Jamie) Mathis, Chelsea Utt, Josh Stover, and TJ Hodges; great-grandchildren, Lydia and Eli Taylor, and Nikkolette Paxton; and several step-great-grandchildren; brother, Albert D. Pendleton of Roanoke; sister, Dorothy Scott of Rocky Mount; four nephews, and many friends. A celebration of Tom's life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road with Reverend Junior Westmoreland officiating. Burial will be at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. on April 7, 2016.2
