     Barbara Louise Radford was buried at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Harris Co., Texas.^4,5 She Barbara L. Watson passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022. She was born in Grundy, VA to Charles and Dixie Radford on January 4,1935. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Bill Watson, her parents, Charles and Dixie Radford and her sister, Betty Ann Murrin. Survivors are her sons William (Bill) and wife Yolanda Watson and Charles (Chuck) and wife Lynn Watson and grandchildren Laura Watson-Taylor, Melissa Watson, Kevin (and Brittany) Watson, Eric Watson, Ryan Watson (and Lauren Jobe) and her great grandchildren Andrew Watson, Kane Watson, Logan Watson, and Bailey Watson and her beloved pet and companion, Schatzie. Interment at Forest Park East. Barbara retired from the Union Carbide Texas City plant. She had been very active in her church and the Empty Stocking program. She was passionate about her Hospice Care Team for 25 years earning recognition as a caregiver/volunteer. She and her husband also volunteered at the Opera House in Galveston.      John Bernard Murrin John Bernard Murrin, age 84, of Medina, Ohio, passed away peacefully after a long and bravely fought battle with kidney disease on March 5, 2022. He was born June 28, 1937 in Parkersburg, WV to the late Julian and Helen (nee Brooks) Murrin. In his youth Jack played football and basketball at Charleston Catholic High School. He was awarded the Mike Safie Trophy for outstanding athleticism. Jack graduated in 1956 and received a full athletic scholarship to Notre Dame University where he played football alongside great athletes such as Paul Hornung. Jack had a sports injury and completed his education at Morris Harvey College in Charleston, WV where he met and married Nancy Harder. Together they raised three children - John, Jeffrey, and Elizabeth. Jack enjoyed a 26 year career at Union Carbide Corporation which took him and his family many places including Charleston, WV, New Orleans, LA, and Houston, TX. Jack was an avid golfer. He frequently played a round with his brothers and sisters at locations around the country. He retired from the Boeing Company - Houston, TX and lived there for many years until relocating to northeast OH to be with his family in 2016. Jack was always organizing family gatherings. He particularly enjoyed Sunday family breakfast and was well known as a "regular" at Bob Evans! Jack will be remembered most fondly for his decisive manner to solve concerns, his daily phone calls to his children and family with the "report" of the day, and asking for our "report" in turn. Jack was gregarious, a charmer, and great story teller, with a warm, giving, sweet, kind and compassionate spirit. He read many sources of news and could always hold a conversation about contemporary events. Jack could have pursued a career as an author but never acted upon that secret wish. He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Elizabeth Murrin Barnes of Medina, OH and son, Jeffrey B. (Cheryl) Murrin of Medina, OH; granddaughters, Sarah Murrin and Emily Murrin; sister, Anne (Ben) Scott of Gatlinburg TN; nieces, Diana (Jeff) Simms of Palm Beach Gardens FL, and Elizabeth (Greg) Gong of Bakersfield CA and many personal friends in the states of WV, CA, TX and OH. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Nancy Harder Murrin; second wife Betty Calabrese Murrin; son, John A. Murrin; brothers, Michael, William, and Smith Murrin; and sister, Mary Murrin Painter. A private interment will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery in Medina, OH. The family wishes to thank the staff of Brookdale South-Medina and Fresenius Kidney Care-Brunswick for their care and support. He enjoyed flirting with the ladies, discussing politics and sports, and sharing factoids/trivia for those with whom he interacted. His cherished routine included wheeling up and down the halls looking for banter, a newspaper and free back scratches. S. 60 midway between South Charleston and St. Albans. Joe Desmond Atkins, 36, of 430 Washington St., plunged only 17 feet, fellow workers reported, but he landed on his chest across a steel bar. Crushing internal injuries resulted. The accident occurred at 9:25 a.m. Rushed to Thomas Memorial Hospital, Atkins at first appeared not gravely injured. He was conscious and talked with Degnan Funeral Home ambulance attendants. He went into shock shortly after reaching the hospital emergency room and died at 10:10 a.m. What caused the fall has not been determined. Atkins was an employe of the Union Boiler Repair, Fabrication and Erection Co. of Nitro, contractors for the erection of the structural steel for the huge new bowling alley to be operated by Alex Schoenbaum and associates. Atkins was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Vivian Atkins of Tampa, Fla; a daughter, Brenda Kay Atkins of South Charleston; a sister, Mrs. Janie Flynn of Tampa, and three brothers, Hayden of Gary, Ind., and Charles and Jack Atkins of Charleston. on December 8, 1960.⁶ He died on December 8, 1960 at South Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 36.^3,4,6

     Dora Allene Atkins A young Charleston woman, crippled by polio when she was an infant, died in an ambulance in route to Saint Francis hospital yesterday morning after a brief seizure by pneumonia. Miss Dora Allene Atkins, 23, of 1015 Washington St., W., had been ill only a few days. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Vivian Atkins; four brothers, Joseph, William, Charles, and Jack, all of Charleston; and one sister, Mrs. Janie Hilliard of Atlanta, Ga. Service will be in Forks of Coal Baptist church.
