James lived life to the fullest but most of all he loved his family. He will be greatly missed. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Lois Lovern. James is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Dora "Pinky" Pendleton of the home; daughters, Donna Pendleton Anderson and husband, Gordon, of Bassett, and Sandy Pendleton Arnett and husband, Ernie, of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, James Anderson and wife, Cristen, of Martinsville, and Joseph Anderson and wife, Tiffany, of Bassett Forks; and great-grandson, James Asher-Levi Anderson. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren and other times at the home. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Noel Naff and the Rev. Ricky Randall officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Anderson, Joseph Anderson, Gordon Anderson, Ernie Arnett, Linwood Fralin and Eddie Church; honorary pallbearer will be Levi Anderson. on July 30, 2014.5

His mother and father; a sister, Stella Guilliams; and four brothers, Alonza, Hobert, Elmo, and Ralph Guilliams preceded Lewis in death. Lewis leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Cleo (Penny) Guilliams; his loving children, Gaynelle and her husband, George Shay, Burnelle Guilliams, Evonne and her husband, Wayne Meadows, and Richard and his wife, Brigette Guilliams; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Cliff Guilliams, Macy and his wife, Ruth Guilliams, and Geno Guilliams; a sister-in-law, Betsy Guilliams; his special and loving companion, Smoky; and many nieces and nephews and friends. A service celebrating Lewis' life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the Roanoke Chapel of Lotz Funeral Home officiated by the Revs. Tim Wilson and Ken Butterworth. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on February 28, 2006.3

Bratcher; grandson, Steven Bratcher and wife, Tammie; a granddaughter, Debra Bratcher; his sister, Wanona Beach and husband, Byron O. Beach; nephew, Cliff Beach; niece, Dena B. Holland and husband, Tony; great-grandson, Steven Bratcher; great-granddaughter, Whitney Bratcher and her friend, Derrick; granddaughter, Kim Cheek; grandson, Doug Hale; great-granddaughter, Kayoti Farinholt; greatgrandson, Zachary Bryant; and two great-great-grandchildren, K aitlyn and Kirsten. The family would like to thank Linda Nester, Jodi Nester, and Tanya Mills for their loving care during Mr. Maddox's illness. Also thanks to Gentle Shepherd Hospice. Buford Wayne Stapleton was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5737 Airport Road NW, Roanoke, Virginia.2 He was born on January 6, 1930 at Tazewell, Claiborne Co., Tennessee.1,3 He married Mary Margaret Milliron, daughter of William Arthur Milliron and Addie Nollie Pendleton, on September 16, 1961 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.1,4 Buford Wayne Stapleton died on September 7, 2020 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 90.2 He Buford "Wayne" Stapleton, 90, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away in the early hours of Monday, September 7, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sampson Stapleton and Otella Stapleton; as well as his brothers, Carl Stapleton and Charles Stapleton; twin brother, Walter Stapleton; his first wife, Margaret Stapleton; brother-in-law, Buster Lambert; and sisters-in-law, Geneve Stapleton, Retha Stapleton, and Helen Stapleton. Wayne is survived by his wife, Helen Bradley Stapleton; daughter, Michelle Stapleton Orr (Billy); grandson, Willie Orr; stepdaughter, Missy Paxton; sisters, Edna Lambert and Lucille Curran (Richard); brothers, George Stapleton (Faye) and Bill Stapleton; sisters-in-law, Alice Stapleton, Evelyn Rhea, Opal Caldwell, and Carrie Crawford (Jerry); brother-in-law, Dwight Bradley (Shirlene); and many nieces and nephews. Wayne was born in Tazewell, Tennessee and grew up in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He attended Lincoln Memorial University and served two tours with the United States Air Force. Wayne then became a master electrician and worked with various companies. Upon retiring from Wachovia, he served as the custodian for Penn Forest Christian Church. He was a devoted Christian and an active member of Penn Forest Christian Church where he also sang in the choir and served as a Deacon and an Elder for several years. Wayne was known for his friendly but quiet manor and was highly respected as a Christian and devoted family man. Funeral Services will be conducted at 12 noon on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at Oakey's South Chapel. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on September 9, 2020.2
