     Elizabeth Lolah Smith Elizabeth L. Smith Poff Sigler, 88, former Johnsville resident, died Friday morning May 19, 2006 in her Silver Springs, Florida home following a short illness. She was born October 15, 1917 in Pulaskiville to William Harrison and Florence Anna (Allen) Smith, and was graduated from Johnsville High School in 1935. Elizabeth worked 35 years as a nurse, first in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital, and later in the former Madison Hospital. She retired from the former Peoples Hospital in the late 1970s with 25 years of service. Following her retirement, she began spending winters in Bokeelia, Florida and moved to Silver Springs, Florida, permanently in the early 1980s. She attended the Johnsville Grace United Methodist Church. Early in her life, Elizabeth had enjoyed her bowling leagues, and more recently liked to go fishing, or spend an afternoon at the dog tracks. An avid reader of romance and Indian novels, she also enjoyed crossword puzzles and any opportunity to play Bingo or Euchre. She will be remembered for loving kindness, and a few jokes. Her cooking will be sorely missed ~ especially her homemade noodles and lemon meringue pie. Her family will not forget the many sacrifices Elizabeth made… “so that her children never went without, even when she did.” She is survived by daughters and a son-in-law Patricia Clapper of Lexington, Ruth Marie Poff of Silver Springs, Florida, Mollie and Roy Rogers of Lexington and Karen Lee Watkins of Lexington; a step daughter and her husband Pat and Jack Ruby of Ashland; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husbands Henry Poff, Charles Scheidler, and Paul Sigler; her son Jimmy Poff; a son-in-law James Clapper; a step son Robert Sigler; a great grandson Chance Castle; three brothers Walter, Bill and Dwight Smith; her parents; and her aunt and uncle who raised her Irma and Homer Snyder. Following his retirement from Copco Paper Company, James worked part-time at Creative Pallets as a custom framer. A gifted and talented pianist, James was a loving son and brother as well as a devoted friend. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Sigler of Silver Springs, Florida; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Patricia Clapper of Mansfield, Ruth Poff of Silver Springs, Florida, Mollie and Roy Rogers of Lexington and Karen Watkins of Lexington; a stepsister and stepbrother-in-law, Pat and Jack Ruby of Ashland; and uncle, Walter Smith of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, his stepfather, Paul Sigler, preceded him in death. A private funeral service will be held at the graveside on Saturday in Shauck Cemetery. on October 21, 2004.⁶

He was born June 6, 1936, at Navarre and had lived in the Mansfield area most of his life. Before his retirement, he had owned and operated Clapper's Mobil Service Station in Mansfield. Mr. Clapper was an annual volunteer for the March of Dimes. He was a member of the North Central Ohio CB Club and St. Mary's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Patricia J. Poff Clapper; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Lisa) Cook of Mansfield; two sons, Matthew J. of Mansfield and Mark H. at home; three grandchildren; his mother, Laura Pauline Maloy Clapper Mansfield; and a brother, Thomas of Santa Ana, Calif. Preceding him in death were his father, Lloyd J., and his sister, Laura Clapper. on July 29, 1985.²

     Gary Douglas Prosser Gary Douglas Prosser, 73, of Delaware passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, December 25, 2024 at his residence. He was born November 30, 1951 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Ann Ruth (Poff) Prosser and graduated from Olentangy High School. He then attended Georgetown University studying International Economics. A salesman, Gary was an avid golfer. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Karen Sue (TenEyck); son, Michael Prosser of Delaware; daughter, Lindsay (James) Wendorff of Delaware; grandchildren, Lily Prosser of Akron and Parker Prosser of Sparta; brothers, Kenneth Prosser of Hilliard, Rex (Pamela) Prosser of Asheville, North Carolina and Alan (Li Fang) Prosser of Geneva, Illinois; nieces, Emily Prosser of North Carolina, Pamela Prosser of Hilliard as well as his nephew Brendan Prosser of Illinois.³
