He was a son of the late H. R. and Mattie Jean Allen Smith born on June 2, 1959 in Barbourville. Ronnie was a former pallet maker, of the Pentecostal faith and faithfully served his country in the Army National Guard. He was an avid baseball fan, especially of the Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed his children and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Ray and Randall Dean Smith. Survivors include three children, Ronnie Lee Smith Jr. and wife, Macy, of Louisville and Becky Wasson and husband, Jed, and Cynthia Smith all of Columbia; a sister, Kathy Smith of Roseville, MI; five grandchildren, Keaton, Kaden, Makayla, Abigail and Tristen; two nephews, Keith Ray Smith and wife, Paulette, of Allen Park, MI and Charles David "Chuck" Seremak of Roseville, MI; among other loved ones and dear friends. His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, October 14 at 2 P.M. with Rev. John Carter officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Payne Cemetery at Hinkle with military funeral honors. Casket bearers will be Chuck Seremak, Ryan Daniels, Curt Reed, John Saylor, George Smith, Rick Messer and Ronnie Smith Jr. Honorary bearers will be Renfro Messer, Tommy Hinkle and Keith Smith. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Monday after 9 A.M. until the funeral hour.3

Mrs. Hinkle died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006 in the Knox County Hospital. Mrs. Hinkle was a member of the Scalf Chapel Pentecostal Church. She was a nurses aide at the Knox County Hospital for 26 years. On December 18, 1938, she united in marriage to James Thomas Hinkle. Along with her parents and husband, James Thomas, she was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes Hughes and two sons-in-law, Charles Garland and Shawney King. Surviving Mrs. Hinkle are her beloved children, Uneeda McWilliams and husband Byon, Martha Garland; Jerry Smith and husband Kenneth and Vivian Messer and husband Johnny, all of Barbourville; Wilma King and dear friend Dan Kuhn of Corbin, Eva Haban and husband Joe, and Jimmy Hinkle and wife Sandy, all of Barbourville, and Tom Hinkle and wife Jowanna of Richmond, Ky; her 19 beloved grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren; her sister, Mattie Smith and husband H.R. and special friend, Cleo Hammons, all of Barbourville. Funeral services for Christine A. Hinkle were conducted in Hopper Funeral Home Chapel Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Tommy Frazier, Rev. Jeff Warren and Grandson Dennis Messer officiating. Internment followed in the Barbourville Cemetery with grandsons, Jack, Mike and Bobby McWilliams, Dennis, Tim and Tony Messer, Charles Garland, Joseph and Anthony Haban, Jimmy Hinkle, Jared and Jeremy Hinkle serving as pallbearers; Honorary pallbearers were: Granddaughters, Donna McWilliams Peyton, Anna Garland, Deborah Smith Lee, Lena Smith Sams, Shavone Smith Mills, Eve Christine Haban, Kristina Hinkle; Special granddaughters-in-law and grandsons-in-law and special friend David Moses and all the employees and former employees of the Knox County Hospital and Long Term Care Unit. All arrangements were under the direction of Hopper Funeral Home.5

A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday January 14, 2008 with Pastor Craig Grammer of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Intensive Care Unit Staff at WPAFB Medical Center. on January 11, 2008.4

     Beckham Garland Beckham Garland, 97 of Bimble was born September 23 1902 in Knox County and passed away Sunday July 16, 2000 at his home. He was the son of the late Perry Garland and Ida Townsley Garland. On April 19 1930 he united in marriage with Sydna Allen Garland she preceded him in death on October 1, 1997. Five children were born to this union. He was one of the first members of the Knox County and International Gideons Bible Camp. He was a graduate of Barbourville Baptist Institute Union College and Lincoln Memorial University and was a retired school teacher of 37 years. He was the owner and operators of Beckham Garland's General Store for 42 years. In 1960 he founded G&M Oil Corp of Barbourville. He served as Knox County Master Commissioner. In 1991, he was inducted into the 5th District Lincoln Club Hall of Fame. Survivors include one daughter Marie Mills of Heidrick; three sons Frank Garland and wife Irene, Jakie Garland, Jerry Garland and wife Kathy, all of Bimble; one sister, Rose Cole of Dewitt; one brother, James Lewis Garland and wife Lenore of Heidrick; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday July 19 at 2 p.m. at the Scalf Chapel Pentecostal Church at Bimble with the Rev. Sylvester Dunn and the Rev. James Mooneyham officiating. He was laid to rest in the Hawn Cemetery at Bimble.2 He was buried at Hawn Cemetery, Hinkle, Knox Co., Kentucky.1,2 He was born on September 23, 1902 at Knox Co., Kentucky.1,2 He married Sidney "Sydna" Allen, daughter of Wiley M.
