He was born John Ward Duff on January 22, 1914 in Kribes, Oklahoma to the late John Elmer and Fannie Mae Dunn Duff. He was raised in Oklahoma and attended the Wewoka Schools. On August 31, 1935 J. W. married Lillie McCoy in Seminole, OK and they celebrated sixty years of marriage (Marriage certificate has a date of Sep 1, 1935). Lillie preceded him in death in 1995. He served his country in World War II with the U. S. Army as a petroleum engineer. J W was a member of the Assembly of God church and had been a resident of Coleman from 1980 until 1996 when he moved toBrownwood. He was a petroleum engineer employed with Gulf Oil Corp for 41 years.
