Olan Gailey Olan Gailey, 82 of Pennington Gap, Virginia, formerly Harlan, Kentucky died Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. Olan was born July 22, 1934 in Harlan, Kentucky son of the late Clyde and Marie Gailey. He was a retire coal miner for James Dean Coal. He believed in the Holiness Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Thomas Gailey; two daughter-in-laws, Angie Gailey and Marie Gailey; two grandchildren, Baby boy Hall and Jamie Gailey; two brothers, Henry Gailey and Make Gailey; two sisters, Marie Powell and Iddie Gailey; and Special Aunt and Uncle who had raised him, Sim and Mary Gailey. Surviving are his sons, Danny (Connie) Hall of Pennington Gap, James Gailey of Loyall, Alan (DeAnne) Gailey of Pennington, Robert Gailey of Pennington, and Curtis (Laura) Gaiely of Pennington; and daughters, Deborah (Tony) Witt of Pennington, Tawnya Landford of Pennington, Ellen (Clarence) Johnson of Pennington, and Angel (Robert) Engle of Sadieville, Kentucky. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends will also mourn his passing. Visitation will be Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 2:00 PM with the Rev. David Ely officiating. Interment will follow the funeral in the Allen / Thomas Cemetery at Cranks, Kentucky. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers. Joyce Jones was buried at Thomas Family Cemetery, Cawood, Harlan Co., Kentucky.1 She Joyce Thomas, 76 of Cawood, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 20, 2017 following an illness. She was born December 20, 1940 in Harlan County and had lived here most of her life. She was a former nurse’s aide with Harlan ARH Hospital and ARH Home Health Services. Joyce was a devoted Christian who loved her family, her church and God. She was a faithful member of the Putney Missionary Baptist Church where she led the WMU and taught the Ladies Sunday School class before her health began to fail. Joyce is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray Thomas; a daughter, Sue Ford; a son, Robert Thomas; and her parents, Cordie and Dorothy Jones. Survivors include a daughter, Beth Ann (Clay) Howard, of Harlan; two sons, Kenneth (Melissa) Thomas; and Rick (Bobbie) Thomas, both of Cawood; daughter-in-law, Sherry Thomas, Cawood; son-in-law, Mark Ford, Harlan; two sisters, Jewell Fee, of Gulston; Hettie (Ed) Lyttle, of Evarts; two brothers, Cye (Hazel) Jones, of Momence, IL; and Bob (Emma) Jones, of Coxton. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Darian White, Robbie Thomas, April Hall, Mandy Hensley, T.R. Ford, Caleb Ford, Matthew Thomas, Alex Howard, Jacob Thomas and Casandra Estep; nine great-grandchildren: Carson Ford, Donovan White, Kaitlyn Thomas, Braydon Thomas, Hunter Griffith, Ethan Griffith, Tanner Thomas, Calvin Hensley and Hailee Saylor; two special nieces, Dezna Napier and Cathy Clem; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews and dear friends. The Thomas family will receive visitors from 6 – 9 pm Sunday, July 23 at Harlan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Monday, July 24 at Harlan Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Wallace and the Rev. Joe Howard officiating. Burial will follow at the Thomas Family Cemetery at Cawood with family and friends serving as pallbearers.1 Her married name was Thomas.1 She married Ray Arnold Thomas, son of Aaron Thomas and Ellen C.
