Surviving: wife, Jean Cook Gunnoe, sons, William of Lombard, Tracy of Ohio, daughter, Mrs. Lura Gaiden of Rosselle, Ill., brother, Dewey of Stickney, WV., sister, Mrs. Faye Jarrell of Bald Knob, and one grandson. Service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Armstrong Funeral Home, Whtesville, WV with the Rev. Fred Wilfong officiating. Burial will be in Cook Cemetery, Pine Knob.      Houston Marvin Parson was buried at Wills-Lafferty Cemetery, Rock Creek, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.^1,2 He was born on September 27, 1909 at Birmingham, Jefferson Co., Alabama.^1,2 He married Ruby Wills, daughter of David Edward "Dave" Wills and Pearl Cantley, on November 21, 1960 at Madison, Boone Co., West Virginia.^1,3,4 Houston Marvin Parson died on November 11, 1964 at Montcoal, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 55.^1,2,3 He Houston Marvin Parson, 55, of Sylvester was killed about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Armco Steel Corp. Mine at Montcoal. He was crushed by a motor. Survivors include his wife, Ruby; a son, William of Chicago, Ill; his mother, Mrs. Tula Parson and a sister, Mrs. Virginia Kelly, both of Birmingham, Ala., and a brother, Carl Parson of Bessemer, Ala; The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Rebecca Chapel at Rock Creek with the Rev. W. D. Porter in charge. Burial will be in. the Wills Cemetery at Rock Creek. The body will remain at Armstrong Funeral Home in Whitesville and will be taken to the church one hour prior to the funeral. on November 12, 1964.³

He was formerly of Naoma. He was a member of Delbert Freewill Baptist Church, Pine Knob. He was a former miner. Surviving: wife, Ruby Wills Toney; daughters, Brenda Gunoe of West Memphis, Ark; son, Ronald of Fox Lake, Ill; stepson, Bill Gunoe of West Memphis, Ark; sisters, Ollie Pettry and Page Mullins, both of Fairdale, Vella Gowman of Danese; brothers, James of Lundale, Jesse P. of Fairdale; five grandchildren; one great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Delbert Freewill Baptist Church, Pine Knob, with the Rev. Jim Mundy officiating. Burial will be in Dave Wills Cemetery, Rock Creek. on March 2, 1988.⁴
