Born in Jefferson County on July 13, 1935 and was the son of the late Oliver and Izola Muriel (Mauck) Rickard. He is survived by his loving daughter and caregiver, Beverly Kay Boyer and husband Donald of Charles Town and one son, Jeffrey Merle Rickard of Martinsburg. He is survived by four grandchildren, Jeremiah Merle Rickard of Charles Town, Erica Quinn Whetzel-Gray and husband Jason of Charles Town , Amber Brooke Nesselrodt and husband Josh of Franklin, WV and Jeffrey Brandon Rickard of Winchester, VA . He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Andrew Tre’ Whetzel of Charles Town, Leah and Emma Nesselrodt of Franklin and Delaney and Lila Rickard of Winchester, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters, Thelma Rickard, Willow Dean Wood, Geraldine Robinson, Dorothy Mercer, Kathleen Briggs, and Gladys Dunn. Three brothers, Kenneth Rickard, Forrest Rickard and James Rickard also preceded him in death. Elston was a go getter and had a very strong work ethic. He started working at Victor Products in 1961, it later became Dixie Narco. He worked there until it’s closing in 1990, having retired as a supervisor. He prided himself on having maintained “perfect attendance” throughout the almost forty years of his employment there. Elston loved to be outside. He spent most of his days, after retirement, tending to his plentiful garden or maintaining his immaculate yard. He was known for his perfectly trimmed boxwoods that surrounded his house and took great pride in maintaining it. He was the epitome of “Old School” and lived his life accordingly. He was known for his sparkling clean vehicles and an immaculate home. To say, you could eat off his floors, would be an understatement. He took great pride in every task he executed. Elston was a family man and expressed often how much he adored his family. He often spoke of growing up in Millville (Keystone) and all the wonderful memories he had of that era. Those were some of the best times of his life. His big smile and loving ways will be missed by all. Services will be held on Monday, June 27, 2016 at 11:00 am in Fairview Lutheran Cemetery in Bolivar, WV with the Reverend Bucky Chapman officiating. There will no visitation. Hospice of the Panhandle has been a blessing to Elston and his family in his final days. The family wishes to express gratitude and appreciation for the loving care they provided. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.2 He was buried at Fairview Lutheran Cemetery, Bolivar, Jefferson Co., West Virginia.2 He and Eva Karen Aliff were divorced.2 Elston M.
