Peterson died on September 14, 2016 at Sioux Falls, Minnehaha Co., South Dakota, at age 90.2 She LuVerne V. Hall, age 90, of Sioux Falls, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016. A memorial service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, September 24, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, with burial at Turkey Valley Cemetery, Irene, SD. LuVerne Vivian Hall was born April 30th, 1926 in Irene, SD to Magna and Chris Peterson, she was the sixth of eight children. LuVerne set off into the wider world at a young age, working at a variety of jobs in California (during WWII) and the Midwest, and then furthered her education after a failed marriage. She owned and operated her own secretarial service in Kansas City, providing services to smaller companies and the numerous conventions held in that city. In 1964, she moved to Washington, D.C., beginning a long career in the private sector and in several government agencies. She held top level secretarial positions at the Federal Power Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the U. S. Department of Commerce, the U. S. Metric Board, the Bicentennial Commission chaired by Chief Justice Warren Burger and she worked in the White House during the Johnson administration, where she met the President, his wife and daughters as well as such visitors as Prime Minister Harold Wilson of Great Britain and Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia. Outside of work, she authored nearly a dozen books on genealogy for Delaware, Texas and the New England states, as well as a Peterson Family genealogy she prepared and presented to the extended family members in 2001. She made and sold craft products, was a gourmet cook and threw fantastic dinner parties. She was an avid theater attendee and arts appreciator, making full use of the Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian Institution, and the numerous art galleries in the Washington, D.C. area. She married Archie Hall in 1965 in Washington, D.C. Archie's southern charm was the perfect complement to LuVerne's graciousness. Shortly after the beginning of the twenty-first century, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD and spent their retirement years near LuVerne's extended family. They continued to be the most gracious of hosts to family and friends until Archie's passing. In recent years, Roger Christensen was a dear friend of LuVerne's, especially offering her support and comfort during her final illness. LuVerne was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Clara, Arnold, Florence, Norman, Cleo, and Grant. She is survived by her sister, Amy, her brother-in-law, Jess, and many nephews and nieces. on September 18, 2016.2
