Sergeant Hall served the Alexandria Police Department for 28 years. During that time, he served in the patrol division and the criminal investigation division. While serving in the criminal investigation division, Sergeant Hall assisted and supervised the investigations working with check and fraud cases. He guided younger police officers learning the ropes of check and fraud investigation and other work. "He taught me more about what to do, when to do it, and how to do it (when it comes to the investigation of white collar crime) than anyone I know", said a younger colleague. Archie met his wife, LuVerne V. Hall in 1964, and the two were united in marriage in 1965. Archie retired in 1950 from the Alexandria Police Dept. and LuVerne, from the Federal Government. In June of this year, they moved from Crystal City, VA to Sioux Falls, SD. Survivors include his wife, LuVerne Hall; a son, Mahlon Hall of Hollywood, CA; a daughter-in-law, Gail Evans, of MD, two grandsons, George Dennis Hall, Jr. and Brian Hall of MD; two brothers, Coleman Hall of Chathom, VA and Jack Hall of Roanoke, VA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Archie was preceded in death by a son, George Dennis Hall. Funeral arrangements are pending. on October 27, 2002.3

He was a charter member of Weal Presbyterian Church and served as Deacon and Elder. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Funeral services were conducted at Scott Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 3 p.m. by the Minister Terry W. Schultz officiating. Burial with military honors by the American Legion Post 1097 of Danville was at Hillcrest Burial Park in Chatham. Scott Funeral Home of Chatham was in charge of the arrangements. on February 1, 2005.1
