Tonia Lynn MacLeery Tonia Lynn Dempsey, 45, of East Bank, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a woman of strong faith which never wavered during her illness. Tonia was a member of Handley Baptist Church and had great love for her church family. Tonia was an employee of Charleston Newspapers and HD Media with 23 years of service. She loved her co-workers and valued their love and friendship. She always loved a good book and baking special treats for her family and friends. Of all the things she valued, she loved her family the most. She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Macleery; grandparents, Lloyd and Loraine Atkinson, Sam Macleery and Roseann McIntyre, and Harry and Virginia Trail; father-in-law, Jack Dempsey; and her beloved dog, Shiloh Bob Beaglesworth. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 20 years, Michael Dempsey; son, Landon, at home; mother, Pam Macleery of East Bank; sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Greg Dempsey of East Bank; mother-in-law, Judy Dempsey of Glasgow; sister-in-law, Karen Dempsey of Oak Hill; and niece, Allyson Dempsey of Buckhannon, of whom she was very proud and loved like she was her own daughter. The family wishes to thank Tonia's doctors and nurses, with a special thank you to the SICU nurses at Charleston Memorial for their special care, love and kindness. They would also like to thank Hubbard Hospice House for their special care. Tonia's final resting place will be at the place she loved most, Myrtle Beach, S.C.1 She was buried at Hillcrest Cemetery, 1000 Highway 544, Conway, Horry Co., South Carolina.2 She was born on April 23, 1973.2 As of circa 1998,her married name was Dempsey.1 She married Michael Dempsey circa 1998.1 Tonia Lynn MacLeery died on December 5, 2018 at Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 45.1
