She was born February 12, 1927 in South Bend, IN, a daughter of Stephen & Hazel (Sechrist) Kollar, and has been a lifelong resident of this community. On August 24, 1946 in South Bend, Dorothy and Jack Martin Gemmer were united in marriage. They enjoyed 67 years together until Jack's passing on June 17, 2014. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Gemmer on July 22, 1986; a sister, Betty Hosier; and two brothers, Albert & Robert Kollar. Dorothy worked for Indiana & Michigan Electric Company, Nyloncraft, was a bookkeeper at Simplex and was the owner-operator of The Donut Shop on Lincolnway East in Mishawaka. She and Jack were also the former owners of Gemmer Parcel Delivery. Dorothy was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #2083, Mishawaka. Mrs. Gemmer is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Daniel) Pullum of Diamond Lake, MI and Lori (Brett) Bishop of South Bend, IN; two sons, James (Nancy) Gemmer of Mishawaka, IN and Larry (Patricia) Gemmer of North Liberty, IN. Also surviving are six grandchildren, John (Mary) Gemmer, Tina Rowe, Adam (Heather) Gemmer, Andy Gemmer, Joshua Sedam, and Jennifer Sedam, six step-grandchildren, and twenty one great-grandchildren, as well as her sisters, Ida Belle (Don) Haughee of Granger, IN, JoAnne (Bill) Duncan of Lakeville, IN and Marilyn (Paul) Potts of Diamond Lake, MI. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. She was born December 10, 1912, in South Bend, to Albert and Belle (Miller) Stevens, and had remained a lifelong resident of this community. On June 24, 1933, in Mishawaka, IN, as Hazel B. Stevens, she was united in marriage to Stephen Kollar. Together they enjoyed 51 years of marriage until his passing on June 8, 1984. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Kollar on February 9, 1982, a daughter, Betty Hosier, and by a sister and a brother. Mrs. Kollar retired in 1965 from the office at the Tepe Furniture Store. She was a member of Harris Prairie Church of Christ, Granger. She is survived by four daughters, Dorothy (Jack) Gemmer of Mishawaka, Ida Belle (Donald) Haughee of Granger, JoAnne (Bill) Duncan of Elkhart, Marilyn (Paul) Potts of Cassopolis, MI, and by a son, Albert (Vera) Kollar of Antioch, IL. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ida Belle Grant of Bradenton, FL, and Miriam Wardlow of Logansport, IN. Services for Mrs. Kollar will be at 11 AM Tuesday, June 2nd, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Larry Williams and Rev. Robert Wiley will officiate. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Hosier, 74, of 657 Terrace Drive, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday at Home Hospital, Lafayette, Ind., of natural causes. Mr. Hosier was a graphic artist with Whirlpool Corp. in St. Joseph, retiring in 1982. He was born July 17, 1920, in Greenfield, Ind., and had lived in Winamac since 1981, coming from South Bend. In February 1946, in South Bend, he married Betty R. Kollar. She died Feb. 19, 1980. On May 18, 1981, in Winamac, he married Marjorie Callender Drompp. She survives with a son, Robert A. of South Bend; two stepdaughters, Patricia Foerg of West Lafayette, Ind., and Jennie Hatcher of Muncie, Ind; a stepson, Michael Drompp of Memphis, Tenn; two grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. Mr. Hosier was a member of the South Bend Masonic Lodge 294 and American Legion, South Bend, and a former elder of First Christian Church of Winamac. He was a graduate of Butler University. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Frain Mortuary. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. today. He was a member and Past President of the Mishawaka Eagles Lodge #2083. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN.
