Newby, of Keeling, died yesterday at her home at the age of 85 years. Deceased was one of the oldest residents of this section and was widely known and highly esteemed. She died within a mile of the house where she was born, having lived in the Keeling section her entire life. She was a consistent member of the Mount Tabor Baptist church. Beside her husband, she is survived by one son, Henry W. Newby, and the following grandchildren; Miss Theresa Newby, Keeling; Mrs. Mattle Brooks, Danville; Arthur, Herman, Edward and Jones Newby, all of Keeling. The funeral was held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home and internment was made in the family
burial grounds there. on April 2, 1930.3

In addition to Mrs. Brooks, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Theresa Henderson, of Keeling; four sons, Alton, Herman, Edward and Jones Newby, all of Keeling; two brothers, Tupper Shelton of Keeling and Curtis Shelton of Richmond; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. on December 20, 1960.4
