Mr. Nowak was born on November 4, 1934, in South Bend and resided in the Michiana area his lifetime. He is survived by five daughters, Mary L. Tomaszewsk of Granger, IN, Victoria Wise and Barbara (Newell) Eddy both of Mishawaka, IN. Betty (Evon) Evonovich of South Bend, and Tina (Billy) Sherlock of Largo, Florida; and a son, John J. Nowak of Largo, Florida. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren whom he loved and cherished. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Nowak; and by a brother, Stanley M. Nowak in 1999. Mr. Nowak retired from Koontz-Wagner Electric after many years of service and then went to work for Goodwill Industries for nine years. He was a member of IBEW Local 1392. Frank loved to Polka, bowling, all sports, and the outdoors for picnics and family gatherings. He was loved dearly by his loving family and all who had the opportunity to meet Frank during his life journey. on January 13, 2008.²

     Ruby Irene Wildman Ruby Irene Wildman Laughon, 73, of Evington, died Saturday, July 19, 2014. She was born February 18, 1941, in Evington, Va., a daughter of the late Elton Wildman and Dorothy Hackworth Wildman. Ruby was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church and a retired Guidance Counselor of Heritage High School. She loved volunteering for the American Red Cross Blood Drives, keeping up with her grandchildren, reading, gardening, and spending time at the beach. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her son, Brent Laughon. She is survived by two grandchildren, Cecilia Laughon and Agusta "Gus" Laughon; and numerous other family members and friends. They ruled the deaths of Ruby Laughon and her son, 48-year-old Brent Laughon as a murder-suicide. They said Ruby died from multiple gunshot wounds and Brent died from one gunshot wound. Ruby Laughon was found within 70 yards of a farmhouse on Tucker terrace on July 19th. Search warrants filed in Circuit Court are providing new detail about a death investigation in Bedford County.Last week, the sheriff's office announced two decomposing bodies had been found on a farm in Evington on July 19. The court papers say skeletal remains were found within 70 yards of a farmhouse on Tucker Terrace. The skeleton was wearing women's clothing, according to the filings. The search warrants say Brent Laughon was renting the home from his mother, Ruby Laughon. Deputies found ammunition and dried red stains inside a vehicle on the property, according to the warrants. The warrants say the second body, a male, was found about a half mile away. That body was identified by dental records at Brent Laughon. His mother lived in another house on the property. on July 21, 2014.⁵ She The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke has identified a second set of remains discovered at a home in Evington on July 19 as those of Ruby Laughon, 73, a retired high school guidance counselor. In a press release issued by the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office Monday afternoon, the cause and manner of Laughon’s death, as well as that of her 48-year-old son, Brent Laughon, whose body also was discovered on the Tucker Terrace property, have not yet been determined. A concerned neighbor who hadn’t seen Mrs. Laughon for some time notified authorities, who found the partially decomposed remains of a man and woman, as well as a dog, at the home in rural area just west of the Bedford/Campbell County line. on August 13, 2014.⁶
