Sammy met the love of his life, Virginia Tucker, and they joined hands in marriage on December 7, 1968, in Cloverdale. He served our country in the United States Army from February 4, 1955, to December 24, 1959. After the Army, Sammy went to Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center for nurse training and completed his course on July 10, 1964. Then he went to work for the Pepsi Company for 25 years and took an early retirement due to back problems. Sammy lived a hard suffering life and God took him home to be with him where he will not suffer or be in pain anymore. Sammy you will be missed dearly by your family. We Love You Dad. Love Mom, Sammy, Christina and David. Sammy enjoyed life and loved drag racing, wrestling and going to the Botetourt Fair. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam B. and Nelda Williams Myers; Virginias parents, Elmer and Bertha Tucker; and his brother-in-law, Louis Lamb. Sammy is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Virginia Tucker Myers; his children, Sammy Myers and his wife, Brenda, Christina Myers, and David Fields and his wife, Jill; his grandchildren, Anthony Hobson, Dustin Switzer, Austin Switzer and Anthony Field; his brother, Wayne Myers and his wife, Betty; his sister, Dot Lamb; and also many nieces, nephews and close friends. Friends are welcome to call on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home in Daleville. A funeral service celebrating Sammys life will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel where the Rev. Carol Johnston will officiate. Interment will follow at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes all memorial contributions be made to the Troutville Rescue Squad, 20 Sunset Ave., Troutville, Va. 24175, in Sammys memory. on July 8, 2009.2

Patty Lou Myers Patty Lou Myers Johnson, 86 of Roanoke passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Blanche Dunbar Myers; her sisters and their husbands, Joann Dize (William) and Jean Collins (Eugene); brothers, Billy and David Myers; and her sister-in-law, Mary Jo “JoJo” Myers. Patty graduated from Fincastle High School in 1955. She married James T. Johnson, Jr. and together they celebrated 66 years of marriage. They enjoyed camping together and going to skeet shooting matches. Patty worked as a seamstress for most of her life. She was employed by Kenrose Manufacturing Company, Maid Bess Corp., and in later years, The Home Shopping Network, and finally retiring at the age of 84 from QVC. Patty was an active member of Preston Oaks Baptist Church. She was a beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed. Patty is survived by her husband, James T. Johnson, Jr; her brother, Jerry Myers; sister, Betty Reed (Sonny); Sisters-in-law, Terry Myers and Sharon Myers; and numerous special nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for all the loving care and kindness they provided Patty and her family. Jean was retired from Botetourt county School System with 30 years of service as a school bus driver. She loved flowers, riding motorcycles and dancing. She was also predeceased by sister Joann Dize, brothers, David Myers and Billy Myers, and special friend Earl R. Wills. Jean is survived by her daughter, Karen (Johns) Switzer and husband, James (Jimmy) Switzer of Salem. Sisters, Patty (James) Johnson, Roanoke, and Betty June (Sonny) Reed, Fincastle, and brother, Jerry T. (Mary Jo) Reed, Blackstone. She is also survived by numerous special nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and her special friends from North Star. She was predeceased by her parents, Prince and Virginia Elizabeth Deel Reed; and sister, Margaret Hatcher. Mary Jo was a dedicated loving wife and mother. She was an active member of Rocky Hill UMC, was President of Virginia Young Homemakers and former Girl Scout Leader. Mary Jo is survived by her husband, Jerry T. Myers; loving daughters, Katrina Eisenhauer (Kevin) and Tamra Reekes (Stanley Jr.); son-in-law, Chuck Fore (Judy); four granddaughters, Stephanie Bateman (Patrick), Andrea Shell (Tommy), Whitney Bishop (Cory) and Katie Reekes (Jacob); six great-grandchildren, Daniel Shell, Bailey Bateman, Anna Blake Shell, Ellie Bateman, Brynn Bateman and Palmer Bishop. She is also survived by four sisters, Shirley Witt, Rachel Ayers, Jean Shell and Juanita Whorley; a brother, William "Bill" Reed (Lois); and many nieces and nephews. Left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, Sharon Moore Myers, his wife of 47 years; Also surviving are his siblings, Patty and husband Junior Johnson, Jean Collins, Jerry and wife Mary Jo Myers, Betty June and husband Melvin Reed; sisters-in-law, Kathy Moore, Peggy and husband Edward Speed, a special brother-in-law, Amon and wife Margie Moore; his dedicated border collie, Molly B Maid. Billy also enjoyed great blessings from his nieces, and nephews, Cassie, Keen, J.D., Tony, Scylenea, Michael, Heather, and Mark, Tamera, Katrina, Pamela, and Karen. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Billy was a founding member of Roanoke Advent Christian Church. He was an avid Ford classic car lover and owner, a hobby that he enjoyed along with many close friends. His legacy includes being a “hero” as many called him. He was awarded numerous gold, silver, and bronze medals as a Paralympian. While weighing only 147 pounds, he held a Pan American Light Weight Bench Press record of 350 lbs. for 11 years. Billy was a proud member of Roanoke Star City Saints wheelchair basketball team and received many All Star and Most Valuable Player awards. Billy told many people “I do not focus on what I cannot do; I am just determined to do whatever I want and can do”. There really was not much he could not do. The family would like to give a special thank you to those individuals who have been encouraging, and helpful to Billy, especially his Adams Construction family during his recent retirement and employment. He was a long time employee at Adams Construction Company for forty-seven years.4 He was born on March 20, 1944 at Botetourt Co., Virginia.3,4,5 He married Sharon Dawn Moore on December 14, 1968 at Augusta Co., Virginia.3,4 Billy Clyde Myers died on March 5, 2016 at Virginia at age 71.4

D. and Mandy Michelle Myers of Nashville, Tennessee, Mike and Mandi Jo Myers of Buchanan; grandsons, James Dylan Myers and Sean Douglas Myers; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joann Dize of Daleville, Patty and James T. Johnson, Jr. of Roanoke, Jean and Eugene Collins of Fincastle, Betty and Sonny Reed of Fincastle; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry T. and Mary Jo Myers of Blackstone, Billy Clyde and Sharon Myers of Troutville. Interment will follow at a later date in Wheatland Lutheran Church Cemetery with burial honors provided by the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. on February 24, 2003.2
