Sallie Spencer was buried at Mentor Municipal Cemetery, Mentor, Lake Co., Ohio.2 She Sallie Spencer Butcher, December 6, 1931 - February 11, 2019. Sallie (Spencer) Butcher, age 87 of Mentor, passed away Monday February 11, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was married to the late Farrell R. Butcher for 42 years, until his death in 1992. Both were born in West Virginia and moved to Cleveland and then to Mentor in 1956 where they raised four children. Sallie worked part-time at Mentor High School, in the cafeteria, during the years that her children attended there. Family and home were the most important things to Sallie. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, music, cooking, vacations and time spent with her family and friends. Most of all, Sallie was a most wonderful mother and wife. She gave of herself and always had the deepest love and respect for Farrell and her children and grandchildren and saw them all through hardships as well as many, many good times. Sallie fought on and survived for many years but in the end, it was Alzheimer’s that took her away from us. There’s not much to say about that right now. It’s terrible. We feel so much sympathy for all who have had to deal with this terrible disease and wish to acknowledge all of the caregivers. Sallie is survived by daughter Karen Anne (Dave) Rexroad and by sons Christopher Farrell (Rose Luse) Butcher, Lindsey Alan Butcher, Rodney Dale (Debbie) Butcher, grandchildren Justin Christopher (Leslie) Butcher, Melissa Ann Gorman , Megan Marie (Brandon) Butcherstein, Michele Kathleen Johnson, great-grandchildren Owen Mathew, Iris Bethany, Emma Sue and Jeffrey Allan.
