     Raymond Theodore "Ray" Chilen Sr. Raymond T. Chilen Sr., 89, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009. He was born July 25, 1920, in Miltonvale to Nels and Edna (Coleman) Chilen. He had worked for Pandandy Bakery, Vidrickson Distributing, Beechcraft, Gruenthal Mail Delivery Services, Stucky's in Ellsworth and Green Thumb. Ray enjoyed many dinners and casino trips with social friends and treasured family gatherings with his grand and great-grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, in 1990; a daughter-in-law, Kathy; a granddaughter, Candice; four brothers; and a sister. He is survived by his sons, Raymond Chilen Jr., of Morgan, Texas, and Doug Chilen and wife Gloria, of Salina; and a daughter, Karen Moralez and husband Steve, of Salina. He has two sisters, Shirley Jamison, of Salina, and Betty Schandy, of Salem, Ore; and a brother, Dale Chilen, of Fort Dodge. There are five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 9, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Surviving are his wife, Stella; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett McDowell, 445 S. 9th; two brothers, Phil and Wayne, both of Salina, and three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Chilen, Mrs. Clara Yerke and Mrs. Cletta Hastings, all of Salina. Her husband, Philbert Elmo, died in 1984, and an infant son, Richard E., also preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Linda McCully of Erie; two sisters, Frances A. Burch of Salina and Phyllis J. Smith of Beaverton, Ore; and two grandchildren. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. on February 10, 1994.²
