She married Gene Leininger in Sutton, Nebraska on September 9, 1947, and the couple was blessed with 8 children. Dona was a kind and caring lady who enjoyed spending time with her family. With her giving nature, she volunteered every chance she could. She loved to garden, work puzzles, cheer for her favorite teams, and attend family activities. This wife, mother, grandmother and friend will be missed by all who knew her. Those family members that survive include her husband Gene; her children Janet Harden of Lincoln Nebraska, Jeanette Anderson and husband Wendell of Pryor, Oklahoma, Theresa O’Neill and husband Mick of Omaha, Nebraska, Jerome Leininger and wife Cherrie of Alpine Meadows, California, Joseph Leininger and wife Gwen of Tahoe City, California, Mary Leininger and Kathy Culshaw of Roswell, New Mexico, John Leininger and wife Kim of Shenandoah, Iowa and James Leininger and wife Becky of Aurora, Nebraska; 19 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; her sisters Doris Weber of Pennsylvania and Lois Owings of South Carolina. Dona was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Kenneth, Dean and Gordon Robare, and her grandson Daniel Leininger. Survivors include her daughters, Diane (Marce) Palos of Deerfield Beach, Fla., Deborha (Jerry) Henderson of Kansas City, Mo., and Vicki (Randy) Hesson of York; son, Kenneth Robare of Geneva; sister, Lena Schmit of Wamego, Kan; grandchildren, Teri Shively, Robert Lewis, Nora Schoenthaler, Carrie Markley, William Chaloupecky, Timothy Shaner and Amy Peterson; great-grandchildren, Brandon Michaud, Johnathan Shively, Deven Schoenthaler, Emarie Schoenthaler, Mackenzie Markley, Skylar Shaner, Samuel Shaner, Ethan Peterson and Elliott Peterson. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., Thursday, at Farmer and Son Funeral Home in Geneva. Graveside services will be held at the Geneva Public Cemetery with the Rev. Lynn Strandt officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Geneva Senior Center or the Congregational Church of Christ. on August 14, 2003.2

Gene Francis Leininger was born May 14, 1923 in Clay County, Nebraska to Frederick Daniel and Henrietta Barbara (Lohmeier) Leininger. Following his schooling, Gene enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during WWII in the Liberation of the Southern Philippines. On September 9, 1947 he married Dona Marie Robare at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sutton, and the couple was blessed with 8 children. Gene enjoyed being outdoors and helping Dona with the vegetable and flower gardens. He was a member of the VFW and liked watching his favorite sports teams and rodeo events in person and on TV.
