     June Anders June Anders Lawrence age 75 of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Mrs. Lawrence was born on June 19, 1937 in Ennice, North Carolina to John and Marie Lowe Anders. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Kathy Anderson. She is survived by her husband Linwood "Doodle" Lawrence; son and daughter-in-law Jack and Charlotte Lawrence; son-in-law John Anderson all of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren and spouses Tammy Harmon, Jackie Lynn and Benji Rippey, Joel Anderson, Jordan and Crystal Anderson and Jacob Anderson; great-grandchildren Hunter Rippey, Cole Pickett, Aiden Anderson and Hannah Rippey; sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Robert Thomas of Birmingham, Alabama; several nieces and nephews; special friend Amanda Ramey. The funeral service will be held Friday, October 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev Randy Morris and Eddie Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 246 Abingdon, Virginia 24212.¹

     Kathy Lawrence Kathy Lawrence Anderson age 53 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in the Twin County Regional Hospital. Mrs. Anderson was born in Galax, Virginia on March 28, 1958 to Linwood "Doodle" and June Anders Lawrence. In addition to her parents of Galax, Virginia Kathy is survived by her husband John Anderson of Galax, Virginia; sons and daughter-in-law Joel Anderson of Charlottesville, Virginia; Jordan and Crystal Anderson; Jacob Anderson all of Galax, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Jack and Charlotte Lawrence of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren Aiden Anderson and Cole Pickett and a very special little friend Amanda Ramey. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 8:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Austin Goodwin officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:30 PM until service time at the funeral home.³

He served as a Private First Class in the U. S. Army's 36th Infantry Division during World War II. He was retired from Fulton-White, after approximately 18 years of service. He previously had worked 16 years at Associated Transport. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Anna L. Byrd and his loving children, son and daughter-in-law, Howard Gregory and Tina H. Byrd, Roanoke; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl B. and Doyle S. Parris, Chesapeake, Susan B. and Robert D. Overstreet, Hardy, Debra B. and Charles G. Meador, Ashville, N.C; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two cousins, Viola Jackson of Elk Creek, Grace Atkins of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Mildred Campbell, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel 2 p.m. Friday, May 14, 1999 with the Rev. Charles R. Doyle officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park.
