He was a retired deputy sheriff for the Hernando County Sheriff's Office with 21 years of service. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II.      Douglas Allen Chorvat Sr. CHORVAT, Douglas Allen, Sr., age 70 of Brooksville, Florida died Friday, April 21, 2017 at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. He was born in Amherst, Massachusetts, but lived in the Brooksville area all of his life. Doug was owner & operator of Crossroad Towing and Stan’s Garage, was a volunteer firefighter in Masaryktown, then went on to work as a firefighter for both the City of Brooksville Fire Department and the Spring Hill Fire Station. He also worked as an auto mechanics teacher at Hernando High School, and as an avid sports fan was Coach of the baseball team. Doug loved all sports, and was of the Lutheran faith. Survivors include his wife: Linda Hale Chorvat; daughter: Kathryn A. Chorvat of Brooksville, FL; son & daughter-in-law: Douglas Allen, Jr. & Malinda Chorvat of Brooksville, FL; step-sons & daughter-in-law: Michael & Sandra Smith of Webster, FL and Jimmy Smith of Brooksville, FL; brother: Stanley J. Chorvat of Masaryktown, FL; sisters: Vikki Farrow of Spring Hill, FL and Kelly Drier of Tallahassee, FL; 7 grandchildren: Zachary, Austyn, Blake, Brad, Jenna, Makenna & Conner.³ He was born on September 1, 1946 at Northampton, Hampshire Co., Massachusetts.^2,4 He married Eunice Yvonne Brass, daughter of Nelson Bowser "Red" Brass Sr. and Lily Zoe Conner, in June, 1967 at Hernando Co., Florida.¹ Douglas Allen Chorvat Sr. and Eunice Yvonne Brass were divorced on July 24, 1990 at Hernando Co., Florida.⁵ Douglas Allen Chorvat Sr. died on April 21, 2017 at Brooksville, Hernando Co., Florida, at age 70.³

He was born on May 4, 1949 in Brooksville, FL. Mike graduated from Hernando High School and received his AA Degree from FSU and his BS Degree from USF. He was retired from Accenture (formerly Anderson Consulting) of St. Pete. He is preceded in death by his father, Mark Wayne Conner He is survived by his wife, Thelma, his mother his sister, nieces, nephews and numerous cousins. He was an avid fisherman, a camper, and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved cooking and was an excellent chef.
