She was born in Danville on September 11, 1951, the twin daughter of R. C. Martin, Sr. and Susan Wrenn Martin. In 1984 she married Lance Hardy, who survives of Danville. Betsy had lived all her life in Danville and was a 1970 graduate of George Washington High School. She was employed with Dan River, Inc. until 1990 when she was diagnosed with cancer. She was involved with Duke University Hospital Research for new treatments for cancer. Betsy was a volunteer at Danville Regional Medical Center and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year. She is survived by her husband Lance, a daughter, Sherrie Holly Stokes and her husband, Phillip Stokes, III of Reidsville, NC; a son, Charles Hardy of Danville; her twin sister, Suzanne Martin Miller and her husband, David of Mocksville, NC; a brother, Bob Martin and his wife, Dale of Danville; three grandchildren, Leighanne Stokes, Phillip Stokes, III and Ryelee Stokes; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 4:00 PM at Mountain View Cemetery with Captain John Sikes of the Salvation Army officiating. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be sent to the Danville Humane Society, P. O. Box 3352, Danville, VA 24543 or to the Salvation Army, 123 Henry Street, Danville, VA 24540. Towne Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street, is serving the Hardy family. on March 27, 2010.3

Carole was born in Danville, VA on July 10, 1944, a daughter to the late Harry Wesley and Polly Hardy Jeffress. She worked twenty-two years with the public libraries in Caswell and Person Counties and drove the bookmobile. Carole was a graduate of Dan River High School. She had lived in Pittsylvania County on Gilbert Drive prior to moving to Caswell County after marriage. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church on Yarbrough Mill Road, Milton, NC. On August 18, 1962 Carole married the late Clyde M. Walker Sr., who passed away on Jan 31,2016. She is survived by her son, Clyde M. Walker, Jr. (Donna); daughter, Debra W. Brandon (Johnny); Grandchildren Ryan Brandon, Jonathan Brandon, Mindy and Trey Walker; great grandchildren Sandy Brandon and Coraline Brandon; Sisters, Janet J. Holley (Dave Slayton of Danville, VA.), Linda J. Godfrey of Danville, Va. and nephew Brian Godfrey. She was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Mike Godfrey. Graveside at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery 1760, Yarbrough Mill Road, Milton, NC, by the Reverend Rocky Smith. on March 16, 2022.1

Walker Sr., 76, of Milton, went home to be his Lord on Sunday, January 31, 2016. He was born on September 27, 1939 in Caswell County, to the late P. Woodrow and Elsie Wells Walker. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Clyde served in the U.S. Army from 1959 until 1961. When he returned from the Army, he worked with his father raising tobacco and later in life he became a tobacco farmer. He also worked for Universal Leaf Tobacco Company and the N.C. Department Of Corrections. Clyde had many traveling venues outside of the United States while serving in the Army and working with the tobacco company. He was known for his wonderful guitar playing from an early age and singing country and gospel music. Clyde loved to spend time with his four grandchildren, teaching them family values and old traditions. He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Philemon W. Walker Jr. He is survived by his loving and caring wife of fifty-three years, Carole J. Walker; one son, Clyde M. Walker Jr. and wife, Donna, of Milton, N.C; one daughter, Debra W. Brandon and her husband, Johnny, of Blanch, N.C; four grandchildren, Henry Ryan Brandon and Jonathan A. Brandon of Blanch, Mindy S. Walker, and Clyde M. Walker III (Trey) of Milton; two brothers, Ronald Walker and wife, Marie, and Kenneth Walker and wife, Patsy, all of Providence; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Walker of Providence, Janet Holley and husband, Dave, Linda Godfrey and husband, Mike, all of Danville, Va.The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Home of Alamance-Caswell for the care of Clyde. A special thanks to Joyce and A. D. Rainey and Clyde's wonderful niece, Patricia Setzer, for their love and care.A celebration of life service will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1760 Yarborough Mill Road, Milton, N.C., with Pastor Rocky Smith, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. on February 2, 2016.4
